As for the topic of this thread, I covered that in the thread itself. I’m actually surprised that, for once, some people actually seem to agree with me, both about the apology being useless, and the implications of the original post.
I have nothing against FDH herself, as I honestly don’t pay attention to the name of the person who writes the post unless they are extraordinarily good or bad.
Okay - I was wrong in posting in the porn thread. I was wrong to infer something against another poster. And I did not apologize in manner appropriate to those posting. Mea culpa.
I had no comprehension there was so much angst about my existence on this board. There are a handful of Dopers who have known me for several years and have met me in person. I suppose if I cared enough about this place, I could point them to this thread and have them corroborate my history. But there doesn’t seem to be much point in validating my life’s experiences or the veracity of my prior posts
I’ll take this as a sign and appease Justin Bailey and offer my farewell.

To be utterly and possibly politically uncorrectly candid, when I was reading those threads at the time, I remember thinking that FDH wasn’t so much “sharing” or “venting” or “healing” or anything, but almost…bragging about how hot she was all her life, or whatever. You know, such that rapists just can’t help themselves around her. It seemed very much to me like she was reveling in a sort of “victimhood pride” about her rape experiences.
That annoyed the shit out of me, because IF my view of her speech and tone in those threads is accurate, it’s the sort of thing that can create resentment and boredom among listeners, and thus a more overall hostile societal environment in which rape victims have to come forward and share their trauma. I don’t deny that FDH was raped, and I don’t begrudge her a tiny bit of the mercy and compassion and support that any victimized human deserves.
But something about her tone and diction in those threads was…off. **Strictly IMHO.

I saw it happen once on IMDB, after a certain poster who had lied about military heroics and law enforcement service was exposed as a fraud. He deleted his account, took down his blog, and never posted again.
Obviously it wasn’t a “pit thread” since it was a different forum, but it was an example of someone who had made up a lot of tall tales and passed them off as truth leaving after someone called them on it.
Now, I really do not know if Ho’s stories are all made up or not. But her leaving like this after someone questions them would make me lean towards not believing them.
