In the future, when your daughter tells you these things, I suggest you act on it then and there. By waiting, you’ve given her the impression that her feelings aren’t that important. And I’m guessing she was feeling creeped out and intimidated/threatened.
It is good that you dumped the idiot “friend”, but if there was a significant time between your daughter coming to you and this event, I think you owe your little girl an apology. She now knows or suspects that her daddy is not her protector, and that’s a trust you don’t want to lose.

For all the talk about smacking the buffoon or calling the cops–or even ending the friendship sooner–one thing I note in the tale is a lack of information that the buffoon has ever done anything but talk big. I suspect that most of us have known a blowhard with whom we could associate, ignoring that aspect of his personality. If the guy is not actually following through on his claims to hit people, (and is not actively pursuing sex with underage girls), then I see most of those reactions as overreaction.
I might or might not continue a friendship with a blowhared, but I would not condemn someone else who happened to overlook that aspect of his personality. Since the idiot made his own bad choices, (telling a man that one wants to screw his daughter or that one would hit his daughter is generally considered a bad choice), thus ending the friendship, I would say that the matter is closed and no further actions are required.

This is SOOOOO wrong. I think there’s a good 50 posts worth of bitching, complaining about the friend, the OP, and the daughter, still to come. This could be a great train wreck, but you’re trying to shuttle one of the cars to another track.
