Fright Night: The Remake

OK, normally I wouldn’t consider this worth starting a thread over, but the cast looks worthy of notice.

David Tennant (Doctor Who) as Peter Vincent (The Roddy MacDowall role)
Anton Yeltsin (Star Trek) as Charlie
Toni Collette (United States of Tara) as Charlie’s mom
Colin Farrell as the vampire next door
Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Superbad) as Evil Ed

In this version, Peter is a magician. Roles still to be cast include

Arthur, Peter’s lookalike assistant (hmm, plot point?)
Victoria, Evil Ed’s heartbreakingly nice mom
Doris, an all-American Vegas showgirl
Amy, popular high-school senior
Sexy female magician’s assistant.

Directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl, United States of Tara), written by Marti Noxon (Buffy, Mad Men). To begin shooting in August or September in New Mexico.

I always liked the original movie, so I hope they manage to keep the humor of it. But was it just me or is there a gay subtext in the film, aside from the gay actors (i.e., between Jerry Dandridge and Billy Cole and especially when Jerry Dandridge “turns” Evil Ed)?

:eek:Nooooooooooooooooooh!

Are they determined to remake *every *freaking hrror movie from the '70s and '80s?

Hopefully they’ll cast someone believably attractive as Amy this time. That girl in the old one looked like a chicken.

Fright Night, the really bad casting version;

Shia LeBouf as Charlie
Jim Carrey as the vampire next door

Nah. Give 'em a year or so and they’ll start remaking the remakes.

Al, stop posting on the 'net and go sell some shoes.

David Tennant? On the big screen? Sold! I’ll be there opening night!

Amanda Bearse- are you whooshing us.

Hard to believe she was Marcie on Married With Children.

Hollywood Ugly strikes again (only, in this case she wasn’t even ugly to begin with). I guess some people aren’t happy unless the heroine is some 6 foot tall Nordic bimbo with tits the size of Uranus and Neptune.

harmmmarmmrmam somenewhorrormovie don’treallyca David Tennant, what? Yes, I’ll be there.

Wow - The cast AND the crew look promising. I’ll keep an eye out for this.
