Frozen Dopers: Who is caught in the 2019 Polar Vortex and freezing their tushies off?

It was in the 40s when I went out for groceries a couple of hours ago and it felt like spring. I wanted to drive with the window open.

It’s 46 in West Michigan right now. About a 50-degree swing in over a few days. Everything’s soaking wet and flooded now. But fear not, it’s gonna drop below freezing overnight, so everything should be a solid sheet of ice tomorrow just in time for rush hour.

22 below (Celsius) and dropping. Never got much above 15 the past week.

Around here, it was a windows-wide-open 60 degrees today. I didn’t wear a coat when I ran out grocery shopping, and I still felt overdressed just from wearing long sleeves.

Ditto in TBay. Been snowing since last night, all praise be to Ullr.

Oh and since I posted this, a fog wall has settled in. Zero visibility in many areas by me.

Currently, it is -28C locally. The coming week looks to be quite cold also.

Well, it got a bit frosty here overnight. Temperature bottomed out at -43C (windchill -52) which is cold enough for me. Thankfully it’s all the way up to -30C now, so pretty much shorts weather.

82 here yesterday, and something like 75 out there today. Granted, these are extraordinarily high winter temps, even for Dallas.

Of course, it’s supposed to steadily drop in temperature from here until it hits a low of 27 on Friday morning.

You must be shipping it south. Gone from -21 to -26 over the past half hour.

Was only -22 this morning, but I forgot to plug in the car last night, and there was some grumbling from Ye Old Chariot when I started it.

At least I still have a cord. By not using it, I drastically reduce the chance of losing it.

Well, whaddaya know? We’re at -34C (-29F). Thank goodness that the car is plugged in. It wouldn’t start otherwise.

Aaand it’s 42 out there now, and supposed to drop to 27 by tomorrow morning. I guess my brief “shorts in February” period is over now.

We’re at 30 as well, Spoons. Even plugged in, car was not happy starting. Battery is getting old. Automatic transmission was a bit balky until the fluid warmed up. And the thermometer didn’t even register any engine heat by the time I got to work!

27F seems like shorts weather at the moment to me.
Current conditions here are -39C (-47C windchill).

Forecast from my weather app:

School buses aren’t running today. Diesel doesn’t take kindly to these conditions.

I don’t doubt that.

You can tease me in early August when your high temps are in the 70s and 80s and mine are 100-110

I hear that. Let’s all move to San Diego or something.

This time last week temps reached a low in the low 20s. Currently it is 76 F and the spring peepers are winter peeping in the nearby pond. Crazy.

If I could, I’d probably snowbird it up- live here from March-early June, and then somewhere in Canada for June, July, August and the first half of September, here through about Thanksgiving, and then somewhere nicer (San Diego?) for the latter part of November through February.
