Frozen Dopers: Who is caught in the 2019 Polar Vortex and freezing their tushies off?

Just this past week there was Winter Storm Ulmer:
Winter Storm Ulmer, the March 2019 Bomb Cyclone, Blasted the Plains With Blizzard Conditions, High Winds

The maximum snow was in Wolf Creek Pass in Colorado–they had 52 inches of snow, while Colorado Springs gusted to 97 mph winds.

As if the Polar Vortex weren’t enough… who is caught in/affected by the latest output of the Bomb Cyclone?

Monday 77F
Wednesday: snow. and not just a few flakes, but a heavy visibility reducing storm.
rain/snow/sleet today (I’m at work, but apparently my house was without power for a few hours). A road was closed due to a downed power line.
(last night the thunder was loud enough to wake me, and one rumble was < .25 seconds after the lightning)

We’re predicted a little rain tonight, a little snow tomorrow, and hopefully 50 degrees by Sunday.

The initial snow yesterday reduced visibility enough that Interstate 35 was closed down for a while due to a number of serious accidents. How the fuck did we forget to drive in snow after two weeks?

There was a lot of wind–resulting in a power outage from 9:30 this morning to 2 this afternoon.

is that whats causing this crap ? Monday and Tuesday we were hitting 90 wed was a bit cooler and today looks like its about to be monsoon season all over again ……

I had the misfortune to have to drive to Green Bay for a medical appointment today. I almost turned back. It was a blizzard, and the 70MPH-rated freeway was moving at 30 max; most cars were lined up behind a plow; passing it would be suicide. A 4-lane hiway was reduced to 2.

This area of the country was forecast to be just outside the edge of the current storm, not in it. But it looked like half a day of ice pellets (not snow) coming down. I was listening to the radio in the car, and wondering why FM had so much static. Turning it off, I realized the static was the ice pellets peppering the windows.

I saw several cars in the ditch. I also saw a state trouper with all lights flashing, traveling in the opposite direction. But he wasn’t moving fast, so he wasn’t headed for a destination. Instead, I think he was leading a caravan of slow-moving cars that wouldn’t dare pass him. A smart-ass cop, but a cautious and safe one.
Almost forgot: Big waves on Lake Michigan today.

Dropped off some kibble today in the mail box at the next ski hill over. The addy: “Loch Lomond Cat, Rentals Dept.” The return addy: “Big Thunder Cat”

Skiing ain’t done yet.

Your link isn’t working for me Musicat. I get a message that reads “this camera is missing in action.” Not sure if it’s just me though.

Started snowing here on Wednesday and hasn’t stopped much since. Yesterday also included some hail mixed in with thunder and lightning. Today looks like a beautiful Christmas Day with large puffy flakes drifting down.

Prior to the tenth locally it was really looking like Spring.
