Fry Bread

Anyone have a good recipie for tradtional fry bread such as one might find on the Navajo Nation in Arizona?

Sorry, I don’t have a recipe, but I just wanted to say…

Yummy! Yummy! Yummy!

I will be awaiting more informative responses eagerly.

Grandmother’s recipe:
2 large handfuls flour
1 handful powdered milk powder
1 palmful of baking powder
1 large pinch of salt
“enough” water

Mix ingredients. Let stand 10 minutes while you prep your cooking rock or grill. Break off a piece of dough and smoosh and stretch it into a round pancake. Put a bit of suet, lard or oil on the cooking rock and fry the bread.

My translation:
2 cups flour
1 cup powdered milk powder
1 Tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 cup water. Maybe. Sometimes it’s thirsty and needs more.

Mix ingredients. Let stand 10 minutes. Melt a pat of butter or spray skillet with non-stick cooking spray. Break off a piece of dough and smoosh and stretch it into a round pancake (doesn’t taste as good if you roll it). Pan fry about 5 minutes each side, or until golden brown.
