Fuck all you warmongering pieces of shit

You know who you are. Short term thinking stupid mother fuckers. Trusting that war lead by two of the most dishonest, selfish, shortsighted, dishonorable pieces of shit ever to lead a country, Netanyahu and Trump, will turn out well. Jesus fucking Christ. What the fuck is wrong with you? Your brains are broken. Dumbest fucking people on the fucking planet.

Fuck you.

Are we not naming names?

Stranger

But they aren’t reading this-we are.

I’m a bit confused here; outside of Trump’s idiotic war-mongering, what interest does the US have in intervening in whatever nonsense Israel and Iran have going on? Seems like an overall loser in blood and treasure, unless we can cow Iran into staying out of terrorism and other geopolitical shenanigans for a decade or two, which isn’t likely.

Not that I don’t like seeing Iran get their ass kicked; they’ve been international politics assholes for decades, and really deserve to be slapped around IMO.

Stopping Iran from becoming a nuclear power. Iran has been a huge supporter of terrorist organizations for decades. They call for the destruction of Israel and the US. “Death to America” was (is?) a popular refrain in Iran.

I’m not saying what the US is doing is the correct course but it isn’t coming from nowhere either. The country and its support of terrorist groups are directly aimed at the US and Israel. It’s not even hidden…they proclaim it with regularity.

Sure, but why now? They’ve been at that shit since I was in second grade.

I would say (as a reasonable American), that we not bomb them until we have good enough proof that they are actually enriching plutonium or uranium, and then bomb the absolute crap out of that infrastructure.

Or take the more dominant approach, and bomb every power plant and water and wastewater treatment plant with 100 miles of Tehran. Sort of a “fuck with us, and you’ll be sitting around in your own sewage in the dark for weeks” type thing.

Nukes.

Imagine your neighbor hates you. Every chance they get they tell you they seek nothing but your death and the death of your family. They are very sincere about it. Every so often they throw a Molotov Cocktail at your house but you have big walls and it never comes to much.

But now you see they are building a cannon and, without a doubt, that cannon will breach your walls with ease and demolish your house and you and your family with it.

Do you do nothing and just wait for it? Or do you wreck their partially built cannon while you can?

Opportunity.

Israel has done the hard work of defanging Iran’s defense systems. We wouldn’t risk our 40-billion-dollar-apiece B-2s without complete air dominance, and getting that ourselves would have required relocating a lot of equipment, personnel, and munitions to the theater, followed by several days (at least) of smashing Iran’s ability to fight back, before bringing in the coupe de grace.

And Israel very thoughtfully did all the hard work for us.

And yes. We are, very literally, kicking Iran while they’re down. Not very sporting, but then again war isn’t sport.

Not arguing that crippling their nuclear weapons capability isn’t a righteous reason to go to war.

But the timing is way, way too convenient. It just happens to be right now, when Israel is already engaged with them, and Trump needs something else to occupy his place in the news cycle.

Color me skeptical that there’s actually a clear and pressing need to commit American pilots and weaponry to do this at this very moment. If there is then great, wreck the Iranians into next week. But communicate why. Don’t just have us assume that Trump et al, are acting in good faith. I for one, don’t believe it, and don’t want to see any of our pilots die because of his personal political ambitions.

I absolutely think this is an opportunists move by Trump.

And don’t forget Trump ripped up the treaty that was supposed to make Iran not have nukes.

But, here we are. Iran was on the doorstep of making nuclear weapons (I have heard they have enough material for ten…say one or two for testing and they have eight). One is one too many.

Israel simply could not wait for it. Especially since they have pretty thoroughly dismantled Hamas, and Hezbollah and the Houthis. Iran would need a win.

Of course the danger now is Iranian leadership, looking at collapse, have every reason to say “fuck it” and use nukes if they have them (or a dirty bomb in a pinch).

ETA: Happy cake day! :shortcake:

Thanks! I didn’t even notice! It’s been twenty some-odd years now.

It just occurred to me Israel may have chosen now not by chance but very purposely. They are quite savvy at the political game and they know Trump well and can play him like a fiddle. That may be a big part of why “now.”

Israel petted the dog. Trump wagged it.

His followers are gonna eat this up as him trying to Save us all from the big bad guys.
Iran was convenient.

We’ve seen this movie before. It sucked.

Why? What chance in hell is there for whatever regime replaces the current one to not be a continuation of the current one?

Is there a better movie that is not a fantasy?

Not sure what you are asking. Would a new regime be any better? History says probably not but maybe they are less hostile towards Israel and the US (but still awful for their country).

I mean why would they use a nuclear weapon in the face of regime collapse when the next regime will very likely be a continuation of the current one?

I thought the whole point of the B-2 was that it’s undetectable. It shouldn’t matter if the Iranian defenses were intact since their radar wouldn’t pick it up.

Which is not to say you’re wrong, or that such thinking wasn’t part of the decision to carry out this attack. It does call into question the decision to build the B-2 in the first place; a weapon so costly that we dare not use it for the one thing it’s made for.

Because Iran was months away from having a nuclear bomb! Netanyahu said so, and you know he’s correct because he’s been saying it for 33 years.

Or for a more comedic look at his warnings, it starts at 7:12 here:

We’ve seen this movie already. It already sucked the first time.
