None of us here can answer “who started it”, to the violence in the Middle East, because any side can always point to something even earlier that “started it”, all the way back to the dawn of history.
If there’s any relevant question in the Middle East, it’s not “Who started it?”. It might be “Was this action a justified response to what came before?”, and even there, there’s going to be a lot of answers of “no”, on a lot of sides.
John Ritter was one of the most talented comedic actors of our age. He won Emmys, Golden Globes, People’s Choice awards, and Screen Actor’s Guild awards.
He was, by everyone who knew him, not just funny but a good human being (which is the reason I brought him up).
TL;DR He was a Good human being and if he was still here, he’d be ashamed of all this BS.
You can Google him if you like. Or do you suddenly know of John Ritter?
If so, were you lying then or are you lying now?
Nope. I happen to live on land that wasn’t habitable (wasn’t even dry land) in the past. And in any case, part of my heritage is completely indigenous to where I live. I was on the side shooting the rockets, when we had our anti-racist-colonialist fight.
Don’t know what the fuck any of that poorly attempted tu quoque has to do with you using the past tense, though.
Unless you’re an Australopithecus, your ancestors displaced other people who lived there first, just like every other group of human beings on the planet. Unless by “indigenous” you just meant “my ancestors were there when white people showed up”.
Not sure why you are focusing on semantics when the point is clear.
Even IF you took someone’s land and even IF you agree they have a justification to shoot rockets at you and bomb you and kidnap your neighbors there is no way you will convince me that you’d be ok living with that. That you’d just hope your kids don’t die or are kidnapped because those other people have a legit grievance.
No, I’ve never heard of him before. Or if i did, i don’t recall his name. I’m bad with names. But it doesn’t ring a bell. And i don’t know many comedians, so probably, I’ve just never heard of him before.
And why on earth are you accusing my of lying?
And does he have anything to do with the candy bar, which is obviously what our RitterSport poster is referring to with their user name and avatar?
Part of my heritage is the first people here. No other humans here before us. Continuous occupation throughout. Before that, just H. heidelbergensis, who was not people.
That must be news to the native Australians, Hawaiians and Māori…
No, I mean really Indigenous.
The point that was being made to you was that you placed the Israeli actions in the past and used the present for Palestinians actions, when the Israeli thefts are very much ongoing.
It’s a popular German brand of chocolate bar. They come in many flavors, most of them delicious. I have two of them in my cupboard right now, which i brought home from my recent trip to Germany. But they are also fairly easy to find in specialty stores in the US. The convenience store on the ground floor of the big office building i used to work in sold them, for instance.
One of them is pictured in the poster’s avatar. It’s obviously what the user name is referencing. I think his is the marzipan version. Not my favorite, but popular.
Well, I lived in Baghdad in 2006 which suffered the equivalent of a 9/11 in deaths every three weeks or so. I lost 13 people from my office. I never once thought that the extermination of an entire people would make the situation better.
Does that answer your question?
ETA: posts like your last one are why I think you’re a racist moron. You think you’ve stumbled on some kind of cheat code to justify genocide. People like you cause a lot of suffering in the world.
I think @Mundane_Super_Hero doesn’t believe that I’ve never heard of some popular comedian. It seems like a funny cause to jump to accusations of lying over. But No skin off my hide.
The name was vaguely familiar but I had to look it up and then I did recall that he was a popular TV star years ago.
I never watched that show either.
I never had time to watch much TV during my younger adult years. It’s only been in the last 15 years or so that I started to be able to have time for TV and movie watching. I am so far behind the norm of knowing things like this.
I’d actually say that the attack (at least by Israel) against Iran was considerably more justified than any of the action in Palestine. Yeah, it was Hamas that was attacking Israel directly, but the only reason that Hamas has ever been a serious threat was the constant weapons and other support they were getting from Iran. And since Iran functions like a conventional nation-state, not an insurgency, it was a lot easier to target Iran relatively cleanly, without getting hospitals and schools and the like in the collateral damage.
