Well with past shocks the market dips a bit when Trump says something crazy, and recovers more than its losses when he takes it back. It’s part of why US stocks are at record valuations relative to earnings.

I suspect a big part of Babs and maybe others’ refusal to accept reality is the assumption and certainty that the governments/militaries of the US and Israel couldn’t possibly ever be close to as morally evil as Hamas and the government of Iran. And anyone even considering comparing them most necessarily be stupid, dishonest, evil, or all three.
No matter the mistakes we might make, we could never be as evil as those guys over there.

Lesson to Babs and others - we aren’t special. Our governments aren’t special. The Germans in the 30s weren’t special. Palestinians and Iranians aren’t special. We’re all just people, with the same sort of flaws, and the same sort of susceptibility to fascism and atrocities. And a necessary (but not sufficient) characteristic to make sure it never happens again to is to never assume your own group, or favored groups, could never do the same thing. To fight the earliest possible signs of atrocities - like deliberate starvation, overt segregation and oppression, targeting of journalists, rationalization of civilian killings, genocidal language by leaders, etc.
And most relevant to this thread, don’t fucking start wars of choice. Even more, don’t start wars of choice with clowns in charge with no strategy, no mission, and no plan. It’s amazing that this is at all a controversial opinion. Some people’s brains are broken. One day the ones with any shred of sense left will realize it and feel ashamed.

And are you aware of the situation in America, in which this war is being run by catastrophically stupid assholes, with no real mission or strategy, to the point they weren’t even prepared for chaos in the Strait of Hormuz (which I remember being emphasized from junior level briefings in the Navy twenty years ago), and no problems with mass murder of civilians and other war crimes?
Because those would seem to be highly relevant to the present situation.
