Under the JCPOA, this was the status quo:
- Iran has plenty of nuclear material and the centrifuges to enrich it to bomb level
- Iran continues to build up their arsenal of ballistic missiles
- Iran continues to fund its Axis of Terror across the Middle East and actively attacking Israel with those proxies
If you think this was a good status quo, or a noble goal to strive for now, fuck you.
Although the last one was in 1973. Ever since it became an open secret that Israel has nukes and will invoke the Samson Option if necessary, destroying Israel by anything less than a quick devastating nuclear missile strike is no longer a real option. Hence Israel’s focus on enemy state nuclear programs– first Iraq and now Iran. Terrorism is a nuisance by comparison.
How we got here is certainly the fault of Netanyahu and Trump and I will stand with you all day long criticizing them for it.
Nevertheless, we are here now and have to deal with reality as it is. Iran with nukes is an existential threat to Israel and the US.
Iran has worked since the late 70s to do nothing but try to destroy Israel and hurt the US. They WANT the mayhem. They WANT the destruction and have never shown any other side (maybe some temporary concessions to meet an immediate interest they have). They have backed up their rhetoric at every turn to seek the destruction of Israel, literally worked hard at it and, a more distant wish, hurt the United States.
You would Neville Chamberlain us into a war. You’d hem-and-haw and wring your hands till it’s too late.

Trying to regard the people of a country as the helpless hostages of their government and trying to separate the two has been one of the most resounding political and military failures of the 21st century. It’s never worked and it probably never can work. In WW2 the Allies presumed that the people of Germany and Japan wholeheartedly endorsed and supported their governments’ military expansionism. Any other policy would have been foolhardy.
Iran had agreed to inspections and enriching at civilian-use grade. #3 is a valid concern, but that’s not part of the framework and it would appear that Israel too care of that problem anyway.
You assume Iran with nukes would make the world a safer place. That is the flaw in your reasoning.
