Fuck Amazon and USPS

They probably did exactly what they were paid to do, actually.

When a delivery service does something you don’t like, it’s very often because the sender paid them to do it.

Yeah, that’s what I would think. They were paid to deliver the package to your address; and they did so.

Perhaps recognizing this difficulty, Amazon has launched a new delivery service, Amazon Locker.

The package is left in a box, one of about twenty in a big, yellow locker. Within three days you punch in a code they’ve sent you or scan a barcode and box door unlocks for retrieving the package. The closest one to me is in a grocery store about a mile and a half away.

You can even return an item by requesting to do so, punch in the code they sent you, and putting the package (12x12 maximum) into the locker that pops open.

What Amazon should do is allow the customer to force a particular delivery option. If I want FedEx and not UPS or USPS delivery then just show me how much it costs and let me decide the carrier that will handle my package.

Then configure their addressing system to reject combinations that will not work. So if you want FedEx only as the delivery carrier their system should force entry of a street address and reject a PO Box as the sole address.

I live overseas and strongly prefer USPS to send packages to the island to my postal address (a PO Box). If they ship it DHL or some similar carrier then the carrier adds on a fee for clearing the package through customs even if no duty was owed. And then I still have to go to the carrier’s office since they don’t actually deliver island wide.

Ship some things via postal services and it saves me nearly US$35 on my end. I want cheapest total cost for shipping, import duty, package tax, and duty clearance service - which can vary depending on the size of package and carrier and may not be the shipping option that is cheapest on their end. Since I’m paying the total just let me choose.

The joys of apartment life.

Actually, I use that when I order from Amazon. It’s really handy and accurate.

It’s taught me that expedited orders aren’t expedited shipping. They just don’t sit as long in the “preparing to ship” area. Once you get the USPS tracking number, it’s just 1 to 2 days until you get it, and they tell you what day it’s arriving.

That’s not the actual USPS site, it’s some tracking service that uses the USPS number.
And it’s obvious from the use of English that it’s not connected to the Postal Service. (“Easy as opening a cane of coke.”)

Problems with USPS? Have you called your Congressman?

Can I use this thread as a place for a rant of my own regarding USPS

I live at then end of a cul de sac at 4337 Winslow Terrace.

I do not live at 14337 Winslow lane, even though that house is on the corner of Winslow Terrace.

Nor do I live at 4337 Adolf street even though Winslow lane turns into Adolf street.

Please, if you would be so kind when you deliver mal or packages, check the actual complete address. Don’t just say, hey this place has most of the right digits, looks good enough.

We almost had our water turned off because none of the bills and notices they sent us actually got to our address.

Of course if a package you are waiting for never arrives they come back with “There is a tracking number that says it was delivered last Tuesday so you must have it”

My neighbor had a very similar experience. . . but with a better ending. He explained that he was surprised to hear that the package was placed in his mailbox on Sunday, since the mailbox had been removed after the Saturday mail was delivered, and he had not installed the replacement box until Monday afternoon. Sunday the carrier would have seen a hole, or a post in setting cement.

The insurance claim was paid.

I give you:
