What does Lobohan got? Less than nothing, since he’s calling people racist for no reason.
I’m saying that emphasizing Hussein is an attempt to inflame racists. Like the Republican Base.
Look, Carol, bubbie… I know you’re slow. I know the words sometimes seem to rush by and confuse you. When you feel like you’re spinning and you want to lash out, just take a slow count to ten, take a deep breath and think about your question for awhile. I think you’ll find, even with your limited capacity, you can figure most of these things out for yourself.
As an attorney would say, this assumes facts not in evidence.
Look, you troll, there’s simply no way that using “Hussein” is racist, no matter how many times you keep saying it.
GAH, when do you go back to school?
Heres an example of the kind of humor that many are accusing Letterman of. The difference is huge.
We had eight years of people calling George W. Bush “Dubya.” Referring to him by an exaggerated form of his middle initial that, in many cases, was intended to imply that he was dumb and ignorant. For those people who will inevitably question how “Dubya” implies that he is dumb and ignorant (most likely for the purposes of playing Devil’s Advocate), it should be clear and probably is but I’ll explain it in any case. (Corrupting the pronunciation of the letter “W” into “Dubya” is mimicking a stereotypical Texan or Southern accent, and the implication therein is that people from Texas are stupid.) I’ll leave aside the fact that for all intents and purposes Bush is an East Coast blueblood whose “Texan” pedigree is completely self-invented - that’s the way HE presented himself, so that’s the way he will be judged, for better or for worse.
There’s also the “chimp” nickname, which I distinctly recall being bandied about here on these boards (try doing the same with Obama - you’ll be hanged, drawn and quartered.)
Let me state for the record that I don’t have any objection to the above derogatory nicknames of Bush whatsoever, because I believe in free speech - what’s important is that they were said.
In light of the above, I don’t find it surprising or upsetting that people call Obama “Hussein.”
Sure it is stupid.
I’m busy schooling you, simpleton.
Save that Bush got our contempt the old-fashioned way, he earned it. Is there a scornful epithet justly appropriate for someone who’s arrogance and stupidity cost untold thousands of innocent lives? Something fitting and apt, but not too harsh, not exaggerated out of proportion?
What might that be, do you think?
“Horrible president?”
I seem to recall people using the phrase “Dubya” as soon as Bush was elected, long before he had a chance to prove to the country what a fuck-up he was. It was definitely a jab, not used affectionately.
True enough, his campaign and admirers called him “W”, we sarcastically referred to him as “Dubya”. Really, its all in how you say it.
Come on! “W” was a Republican thjng. Just look at their bumpers. I haven’t seen a single “Hussein” bumper sticker yet.
Dude there was a difference between “W” and “Dubya.” You know it and I know it. I can’t even count the number of times I heard, or read, the term “Dubya” thrown around, and it was always in a negative context, sometimes accentuated with a Texas accent and usually with the implication that Bush was some kind of stupid, redneck moron. Bush was an ineffectual president and he was a bad public speaker but a moron he was not. They don’t typically allow morons to fly an F-102 Delta Dagger, which is widely regarded as one of the most difficult fighter planes to fly and which is what Bush operated during his much-mocked service in the Air National Guard.
A friend of mine makes this point and I agree. As much as I disliked Bush as president and besides his English language problems he is not a moron. Assuming that is like hearing Lou Ferregno with his speech impediment and judging his IQ from that. He’s huge and muscular and he talks funny. He must be stupid. A bogus conclusion. I’ll try to find a better word than moron to describe his failure as a president.
I’m actually wondering in today’s complex world if any one man is capable.
Dubya is relatively common with the Freepers and I don’t think they use it in a negative way. Also, for something so negative, there seems to have been quite a few bumper stickers, t-shirts and so on made with slogans such as ‘Luvya Dubya’.
Yes, ‘Dubya’ was used in a negative way by those who didn’t like Bush. It was also used in an affectionate way by those who did.
Why does this bother libs? Obama himself has owned the name, using it several times. Just answer them with "Yes, Barack Hussein Obama is the President, mine and yours. Suck on it, loser
I actually think calling him Barry would be better dig but then I’m not trying to brand him as a dangerous muslim.
Yes that is the reason Dubya became a popular name with his detractors any honest person should say so.
Likewise any honest person should admit that using Hussein is to try to depict Obama as a Muslim leaning leader at best and downright bigoted at worst.
I agree. Calling Dubya stupid would be an insult to stupid people.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH Stop Stop my sides hurt
I’m curious to know: what *is *the point of referring to him as “Hussein?” It’s obviously pejorative. So what’s the pejor, as it were?
At the risk of stating the obvious, the batshit wing of the Republican Party thinks all Muslims are terrorists. Hussein is a Muslim name, therefore Obama is a terrorist.
