Fuck David Letterman and all misogynistic leftists who support him on this

Palin’s reaction to Letterman’s apology included this part:

Now, if she’d stopped at the first sentence, it would have been a reasonably gracious acceptance of the apology (despite her  swipe at him with the preceding comment that she hopes “men who ‘joke’ about public displays of sexual exploitation of girls will soon evolve.”). But no, she had to go on and throw in the glurge, didn’t she? She had to do a flag-waving pander, to exploit her latest bask in media exposure.

Watching her, I get the feeling that she is highly skilled at playing to the hard right base, but has no feel for how she comes across to people outside of that set.

Of course you do; in your black and white world, everything is either dismal failure or resounding success. Life, with all its shades and hues, must be such a disappointment to you.

What’s political about any of that stuff?

It worked out as well as it possibly could have given the circumstances.

He was not a political activist. He was a community organizer. Those are not the same occupations.

Oh come on, ETF*! Cut the woman some slack, would ya’? I mean that quote you posted had me laughing freaking hard. Made me think of a SEAL team taking over the Late Show and planting the Stars & Stripes right on Dave’s chair, in a real-time TV special. :stuck_out_tongue:

Certainly much better joke than the one that started this whole thing. And besides, as I sagely predicted upthread Letterman beating Tonight Show in ratings.

So yeah, keep 'em coming, dweebs!

*LTNS. How the heck are you, dear?

Seriously, what gives you the idea that I live in a black and white world? Even on this thread I said that I’m to the left of BHO on gay marriage and that I chose my user name based on a birth control device.

You mean he wasn’t successful? Did he mention that in the campaign, by any chance? You know, transparency and all that.

 Thanks for the image!

Well, thank you; very well, m’dear. And you?

That is the point where her possible objections transitioned to manufactured outrage to achieve some political objective. She was calculating how far she could ride the non story. She got TV time .

Seriously, what does feigning liberalism have to do with viewing the world as stark extremes?

I take it you’re not about to answer my question. :frowning:

Well…I did notice that after I moved to New York City, it seemed like everyone outside of the City became a lot dumber and less sophisticated.

Your sarcasm about Obama’s community organizing is one clue. As if one man should be expected to turn Chicago’s poorest neighborhoods in “thriving spots”. I think any reasonable person would draw the same conclusion about you.

So, Plan B, who’d you vote for in the last presidential election?

My sarcasm in BBQ is just an example of “When in Rome…” It has nothing to do with my ability or inability to think in shades of gray. If you look at my list of posts you’ll see that I’m never sarcastic in IMHO, for example. I think the fact that I can use different amounts of rudeness in different places shows that I live in a gray world. Someone living in a black and white world might always try to be sarcastic or always try to be polite.

Now, of course you could criticize me for sarcasm alone in the post, and I’d agree with you. But then one wonders why you would only choose to criticize me and not the other posters in BBQ who are sarcastic.

Do you think that everyone who is sarcastic in BBQ is living in a black and white world?

That sounds like a violation of an important principle of democratic elections. So the answer is NOYB.

What does that have to do with Letterman making an insulting stupid joke and millions of hateful lefties rallying to his defense even after he’s admitted he goofed? Is there some correct answer to your question that somehow would change the debate?

IOW, he’s not registered.

@Fear Itself

BTW, for the most part I like Letterman, and even though his apology isn’t so great, I’m willing to acknowledge that he seems to get it. It hasn’t changed my opinion of him as a comic, however. How’s that for shades of gray!

Not Obama, You Bet? OK, but you don’t have to speak in code. You’re anonymous here. I seriously doubt the secret police are going to kick your door in if you admit you’re a Naderite.

Not sure why you’d be so touchy over a fairly innocuous question, but whatever. I’m not looking for a ‘correct’ answer.

I would , if you’re open to bit of suggestion though, recommend that your arguments might be a bit more persuasive if you didn’t come off like a foaming partisan hack right out of the gate. For example, where do you get this guff about ‘millions of hateful lefties rallying to Letterman’s defence even after he’s admitted he goofed’? Somehow I missed yesterday’s riots in the streets over this issue. I know there were some demos in Iran over the past few days, but I think that was over the price of pistachios or something.
