So when Letterman said that A-Rod knocked up Palin’s daughter at the game, he must have been referring to 14-year-old, Willow. Get it?
No, you don’t get it. Humor does not need to be accurate to be funny. Since Willow is not a known tramp, he must not have been talking about her.
So why is Letterman “clarifying” what he meant? If, as you say, a joke doesn’t need to be accurate to be funny?
He’s caving to the RO from the right. He shouldn’t have clarified anything.
No, I think Dave has mellowed quite a bit since he became a parent. That made me warm up to him while others thought he wasn’t so funny. But it made very much sense to me that he would not have intentionally made a fourteen year old the butt of his sexual joke. Of course it is still an opinion and unlike some here, I am unable to state with certainty what he was thinking.
(sniff)
Yeah, you never hear him telling jokes about his own bastard kid.
No, he was referring to Bristol, which was why it was funny.
You realize you’ve just completely undercut your own credibility in claiming to care about an alleged attack on children.
What credibility?
Letterman’s son isn’t a bastard? I believe he is.
Rich kids always are.
Wait, that’s not what you meant, is it?
Well, that, too…
I don’t see how you can claim it fell flat. Here’s a 42 second YouTube Clip of his “joke”. Judging by the noise made by all of his fellow political bigots in the audience, they found the “joke” extremely hilarious. There was no evidence that his “joke” came close to falling flat in that brief clip.
Alright, so they say they mixed up which daughter was at the game and thought it was legal adult, young mother Bristol. Is that an acceptable answer, or is the idea that not everybody is up to date on the name, ID and status of each Palin daughter just too far-fetched to believe?
In other words, do we forgive Letterman or do I need to run out to the store and get some tar and feathers, cause I know a place and I need to restuff my mattress anyway.
Letterman responds
I just figured it was an oxymoron, like “Jumbo Shrimp” or “Government Aid”. Somehow I don’t equate misogynism with left wing politics.
Right wing maybe, Ronnie did know how to keep that Nancy lady in line, as opposed to the dual manhood White House of the Clinton era.
Just not seein’ it.
Well, at first I thought it was just that Bristol didn’t attend the game. Now I find out that Bristol wasn’t even in New York at all! So all those “jokes” about Palin’s daughter in NYC could only have been referring to the 14-year-old. And, yes, I understand that Letterman likely didn’t know this and honestly thought he was referring to Bristol. But in that case, why not simply name the daughter the “joke” was aimed at?
Letterman blew it big time here. He knows it, too.
I thought that and then I found out this morning- WILLOW WAS THE ONLY ONE THERE.
Now, it’s probable that Letterman didn’t know/wasn’t paying attention. Now that it’s been pointed out, he should just “Oh crap, I’m sorry. Ya got me. I aimed that joke at Bristol & missed.”
Of course, the Left hates Bristol because she didn’t abort.
Adding: Simul posted with Stephe96 there!
That’s pretty much what he did say.
I especially love how you dropped-without-comment the line on liberal hypocrisy when several of us who didn’t care when it was a Chelsea Clinton joke posted, and didn’t answer any accusations of hypocrisy on your own part when asked why YOU didn’t care about the Chelsea Clinton jokes back in the day.
Classy as always, you chump.
