Fuck David Letterman and all misogynistic leftists who support him on this

He never apologized, actually. In fact, his awkward and rambling “explanation” only served to make a bad situation worse, in my opinion.

We’re supposed to feel better because the jokes he admits were in “poor taste” were aimed at an 18-year-old girl and not a 14-year-old? Okaaaayyy.

Check out the vid in the huffpost link above that I supplied.

He basically says that. He refers to the 18 year old who got pregnant as being the target and says he would never have meant to direct them at the 14 year old.

Remember during the Bush administration when the big news items that everybody was debating were Osama bin Laden, Saddam Hussein, WMD’s, Abu Graibh, anthrax, Hurricain Katrina, Gitmo, torture and traitorous left-wingers?

I’m so glad that we’ve calmed down enough to tackle the really important issues. Namely, the 11:30 CBS time slot. I’m relieved that our long national nightmare is finally over.

It slows down the delivery: everybody knows Palin had a daughter who got pregnant. Not everybody knows her name is Bristol.

It’s not as bad to make a sexual joke about an 18 year old who is a public figure, and specifically one who is known for getting pregnant and now trying to start an abstinence campaign, as opposed to a 14 year old who isn’t.

OK, I just saw the sound bite that aired on MSNBC an hour ago.

Ironically, MSNBC aired a bit more a couple of minutes ago in which he did deny directing it at “the 14-year old” so that was probably a short clip in what you’re citing.

Wow this thread is about a whole lot of nothing.

I’m not sure that matters so much, since she’s never recanted on the blessing he gave her on the altar of her church. It was supposed to protect her from witches.

And to bring the highjack back to topic, if you’re concerned about the welfare of teenage girls in any way, shape or form, you could only be physically repulsed by witch-hunters.

In an unusual dsisplay of class for him last night, Letterman poked fun at the Palins’ blogs targeting him and then turned serious, stating explicitly that he had intended to target the 18-year-old (Bristol) who is known for having gotten pregnant out of wedlock (thanks to the recent campaign), and had not intended to target and would not have targeted the 14-year-old (Willow) if he had realized she was the Palin daughter who actually went to the game. He then extended an invitation to the senior Palins to again visit New York at his own expense, then spun a joke about not having heard from Alex Rodriguez about the original joke. It was, for Letterman, an unusually serious moment – even for a late-night comic, some things are beyond the pale, and he realizes it.

Come to think of it, if anybody has call to feel insulted, it would the A-hole. A-Rod, excuse.

Yes, obviously.

Big time? Really? You lead a very sheltered life if this clears your “big time” bar.

Because the joke was really meant to be about Sarah, for one thing, and for another, not everybody knows her kids’ names or would have understood that Bristol is Palin’s daughter.

This reminds me of the “lipstick on a pig” flap, or the flubbed John Kerry Joke about “…[Bush] getting stuck in Iraq.” it’s a bunch of people pretending to misunderstand a joke in the hopes that they can convince less intelligent Americans that they should be outraged.

Three points about the Muthee-Jane showdown or hoax-

It now looks like a conflict between rival religious leaders, both of whom may be involved in a mixing of Christian & African beliefs, that Muthee exaggerated big time.

IF it had gone down like Muthee had claimed- it wasn’t “pastor hounding out old woman” as much as it was “pastor praying against town boss/local witch who had everyone intimidated until her sway was broken”.

Palin & her church were guilty of believing his hype. (Interestly enough, it looks like the people who exposed him were non-charismatic Evangelical missionaries in the area.) Even then, he never sounded like a modern-day Cotton Mather or Matthew Hopkins. Alas, in Africa, there are plenty of self-styled ‘pastors’ who have cast themselves as such & are probably closer to being ‘witch-doctors’ themselves than the people (usually children & old ladies) they target.

He never apologized because there was no need to. He said Sarah Paling was correct in saying jokes about kids and sex were bad and then he said “that is not what I did” and invited her to come on the show which I take as a challenge to come on and sustain her accusation. We shall see if she takes it up or not. Dave is not hiding or running, he is maintaining every word he said. And the “joke in bad taste” is just self deprecating schtick which he does all the time. He said jokes in bad taste is what he has been doing for decades. It had nothing to do with this joke in particular.

Why are the longest threads always about the stupidest bullshit?

Palin has already responded, saying she doesn’t want to give Letterman the ratings boost and she feels it wise to keep 14-year-old Willow away from the guy.

Because everyone has some stupid to contribute. Not everyone has something important to say about things that matter.

Speaking of things that matter, if you’ll excuse me, I need to run out and pick up the new National Enquirer. I hear there’s been another Batboy sighting.

This makes it REALLY funny–that Palin actually thinks middle America gives a rat’s ass about Letterman jokes enough to be outraged.

See? Even her mom knows she’s a little whore.

And what’s a “political bigot”? Someone who’s prejudiced against political ideologies other than his own?
