Worth another look, that picture.
Maybe you should try for the Olympics or the NBA, looks like you have quite the vertical leap.
I feel your pain, Lucki. I’ve been there, done that.
By the way, your rant was pretty lyrical, with a little work you could probably turn it into a killer song.
having taken many antidepressants i can say that if you end up feeling worse on the medication don’t let the doctor convince you increasing the dosage is a good idea.
Amen to that!
Stay loose, stay open, and listen for opportunity knocking… somethimes it’s pretty faint, but you never know what will happen tomorrow if you keep your eyes and ears open.
Things will get better.
Unless it happens to be an obapinia. Or 42.
Zoe nailed it.
What people without depression fail to understand is that it is not the particular events in your life that make you unhappy, your brain chemestry does all that for you. Try and imagine if you would a life where no matter what you do it feels like pain and failure. Everything. Always. I’m guessing most balanced people can’t because the idea is so crazy. To them people that are unhappy should just buckle down and get through it…after all they themselves have dealt with similar circumstances and came out just fine, right? Wrong. You dealt with your problems without the burden of a true raging depression, your brain was normal. I know its hard not to judge others based on your life experiences, but please accept that what depressed people go through dealing with life’s issues is NOT what you deal with.
I know how you feel.
Depression sucks. I know how it drives “friends” away, and how it seems to creep into everything.
Hell, I tried to join the SDMB “Depression Support Group” on Yahoo Groups, and never heard a reply. I offered to DM for an SDMB- based D&D game, and no one bothered to sign up. I submitted samples of my artwork to “Teemings” and never even got a rejection letter.
I’m trying like hell to connect with some semblance of society, and society doesn’t care. If I didn’t have my wife, I’d probably be dead by now. But I can’t depend on her for everything in existence.
Even my selection of a username brings enemies- fans of the other 31 teams, by default; everyone who hates football for any reason; and those who don’t like people from Pennsylvania. Not to mention all of those who think Americans should be killed for being alive and living in the “evil US.”
Not only this: I’ve worked as a telemarketer and a door-to-door salesman. I like Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, and many other science fiction themes. I listen to Pink Floyd and Rush. I can’t go a day reading the SDMB without finding someone who hates any of these with passion.
Just once, I’d like to see someone enjoy something without someone else having to stop in and shit all over the good feelings.
Zoe and Bongmaster, good posts. I’m there.
