Fuck. I just had an idea for a thread - "Write your suicide note" what does that say

about me?

I put this in the pit because the pit is the only place you’re allowed to swear freely.
I had the idea for this thread, then I thought “fuck. I can’t post that. That’s like the worst thread ever. It will not go well”"

Then I wondered why I had that idea. I had it because as an atheist the wording of my note was to explain to those close to me that this isn’t a bad thing. I’m not in hell. Nor am I in heaven. To experience either of those places requires a consciousness and being dead means I don’t have one of those. But then I realized that most of the people reading the note may not be atheists, and may think I am in their ‘Hell’.
To reasure you - I don’t want to commit suicide. I happen to thing the things life has to offer make living it as long as possible is worth doing.

Where do people get this idea? You can swear in any damn forum you like.

Don’t overthing things. K?

I’ll keep that in mind. It didn’t used to be the case.

I think it always has been, at least since 2000. This place has never been censored for language: The mods adhere to vaguer and more style-oriented guidelines as opposed to a simple list of words you aren’t allowed to use outside the BBQ Pit. Where you might be getting confused is that it’s unusual for someone to insult another poster without using what is usually considered bad language; it’s the insult that’s banned outside the Pit, not the language used to convey it. At least, that’s my understanding of it.

(Now watch someone jump on me for junior-modding. )

A few things:

  1. You most certainly can swear outside of the Pit. Putting MPSIMS threads in the Pit simply because they contain the f-word is not an idea we Pit mods support.

  2. I agree that a “write your own suicide note” thread probably wouldn’t go well.

  3. This thread seems like a hybrid between a really weak self-Pitting and a random musing, so I’m going to close it.
