Fuck it...I'm not voting...

Given the choice between the dousche and the crap sandwhich, I have opted to say “fuck it”. I really don’t care who wins. I tend to vote Republican but I think Bush is an imbecile and Kerry says what I want to hear but I’m concerned his liberalism will screw things up more. I don’t believe half the crap either one says and both are guilty of being full of shit.

I don’t believe that there is so much difference between the two that it really matters. It’s not like we are voting between Abe Lincoln and Stalin. I’m sure ether one will do a fine job screwing up the country in their own way.

So good luck fellas. May the best man win.

Well, I’m still voting for Stalin.

I’m in a Blue state. A really really really solid blue state. Neither the Universe nor the Eeee-lectoral College of the United States of America give a flying flip who I vote for.

However, I’m gonna go out and vote for Kerry.

And if Bush wins, I’m gonna make me a T-shirt that says:

“Don’t blame me! I voted for Kodos.”

I’ve been fantasizing about this since, four years ago, when, in this here same blue state, I “threw my vote away” on Nader.

(I really am doing it because of the T-shirt thing. I wish I were kidding.)

Personally, I think voting for Bush or Kerry is “throwing away your vote”. Make a stand, vote for a third-party candidate and rest assured that, since there is no way on earth your candidate will be elected, you can safely complain about whoever gets elected by saying “well, I didn’t vote for the douche-bag (or turd sandwich)”!!

I’m with Ponder–I’m voting 3rd party. At least they can use the vote to get increased funding in further elections, if I’m not mistaken. And I can say I participated. No matter who wins I can say I voted for the other guy.

I wish I lived in a blue state. But I’ll vote for Kerry anyway, since at worst he’s the lesser of two evils. I’d at least rather try out a new brand of evil.

I already voted for Kerry and if he wins and fucks up, I’ll gladly take the blame as I don’t see Kerry on his worst day being even half as bad as Bush on his best.

Podkayne, why Kodos?

I live in a swing state, so no third party vote for me. In any other election, I’d be the one spouting idealism but Bush is such an unmitigated disaster (IMO!) that I have to sell out just this once. It really has more to do with the Supreme Court than anything; we’ll only have to live with a shitty president for four years but whoever wins next week will be choosing three or four new judges that could be there for the next thirty years. That’s reason enough to hold your nose and vote.

On preview: I thought Kodos was supposed to represent Bob Dole/Republicans and Kang was supposed to represent Bill Clinton/Democrats. Although I guess it doesn’t really matter…

You can still vote for the other things on the ballot. You must have an opinion one way or the other on propositions or local candidates.

Haj

So, msmith537, you don’t care about roads, or schools, or taxes? Even if you don’t care for Kerry or Bush, you still have congressional, Senatorial, gubernatorial, mayoral, city council, and school board elections to consider. Do you want fundies to eliminate science classes in your local school system? If you don’t vote, you can be sure they will sneak creationists onto your school board. How about funding for infrastructure in your state? You should vote for a congressperson who will work to enliven your state’s economy by directing federal dollars for local projects. Do you want local taxes raised to pay for a stadium? If not, then get out and vote aginst the bond initiative.

Get involved and be a citizen, and not a subject.

**slortar ** and whiterabbit, might I suggest the two of you swap votes? Looks like whiterabbit’s in a swing state (as in “to swing”).

I’m voting on Tuesday, but I’d be more than happy to take the blame for that.

That about sums it up for me.

I agree with this completely, too. I’m voting Libertarian. Yes, Badnarik won’t win, but if enough people who are disillusioned with the Democrats and Republicans vote 3rd party, maybe the Dems and Reps will wake up.

No, no, no, you don’t understand. Now, the apathetic (and just plain ol’ pathetic) have declared not voting to be a principled choice that’s going to destroy the system. You see, politicians see 50% voter turnout for a few more years, and suddenly they’ll all change! It hasn’t worked for the thirty years or so we’ve tried it, but that just means we need to stick with it!

See, you’re letting pragmatism get in the way of the principle of pretending the candidates are identical.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again…

Being an undecided voter is like John Wayne waking up in the morning and not being able to choose between wearing jeans or a dress.

And thank goodness for that!

A Libertarian president would be a great thing for this country.

I really like a bumper sticker I saw the other day:

“Republican/Democrat. Same shit, different pile.”

I couldn’t agree more…
