Frankly, these days, the people who espouse some of the feelings the OP does the loudest tend to be extremely ignorant, sometimes by folks who think that being “un-PC” gives them free reign to say whatever they want to whoever and anyone offended is just wrong, so I think it’s understandable that some people are a little touchy about these matters.

Actually, I just returned from a trip wherein I flew on four different airplanes on two different airlines (Southwest and America West), and recieved tiny packets of peanuts (both dry and honey roasted) on each flight. I was shocked, I tell you, shocked. Pretty tasty peanuts, though.

Mega-overgeneralizing doesn’t make for much of an argument, and the fact that some people go too far for a cause doesn’t mean there isn’t some kind of point behind it anyway.

I think skutir is right, actually. If I’m gonna come down here and read people whining, for fuck’s sake I’d like it to be reasonably amusing or current. Roughly 95% of the populace acknowledges that everything PC-related is dumb. It’s been the subject of lots of comedy for ten years now. I would venture to guess literally millions of people have said the same things Deagan has, only funnier and more insightfully.

I’m the first to admit it’s a mess. I wish I could it edit it. “Assumedly whatever it is they hate about political correctness, they perform to the nth degree.” What a lot of people complain about in political correctness is that these various groups complain, that they claim to be victimized, that they demand some kind of respect they haven’t earned. As the OP so aptly illustrates, these staunch opponents of PC become, in my opinion, the worst offenders of incessant and unnecessary complaining, feeling victimized, feeling the world owes them something, etc.
