Fuck this guy (Santa Barbara shooter)

I don’t think this guy gave a damn about whether or not those women had happy lives. I don’t think he gave a damn about what anyone else thought or felt. It’s quite apparent he feels entitled to sex with women he finds beautiful regardless of the preferences or feelings of those women.

He treated sex like a contest or vending machine: do these steps or insert this Magic Coin and receive sex. It’s not like that, as the rest of us know. Women are not sex-dispensing automatons. A lot of his whining boils down to “I did all the steps and paid my Magic Coin - where’s my shiny prize?!?”

He should pay for sex? He probably thought other people should pay him for sex.

Yes Rick Kitchen that remark is a bit insulting to the folks I know with Asperger’s and even full autism who nonetheless have friends and even spouses. It’s a lot harder for them to handle social interactions but many, if not most, are capable of it to one degree or another.

Nor do I agree with the kneejerk internet assumptions of Asperger’s that seem to be making the round (not singling out Rick here, I’m speaking generally). There are a handful of other potential psychiatric problems this guy could have had, some of which are more frequently linked to violence and murder than the autism spectrum.

Like I said - he thought he had completed all the steps to get sex and didn’t seem to understand that it isn’t a prize you get for doing A, B, and C. As previously mentioned, women are not sex-dispensers and there aren’t secret buttons to push to guarantee nookie.

Possible silly question here: What’s “MRA”?

Once again, the family spokesman/lawyer put out a statement which said that he was diagnosed as high functioning Aspbergers at a very young age. This was NOT a knee jerk internet assumption.

Isn’t it interesting, then, that this has hardly been reported at all in the media? Especially since the media LOVES to inject the bugaboo of mental illness into these types of stories.

Methinks they aren’t giving that claim a lot of credence, for whatever reason. Perhaps we shouldn’t, either.

It’s been reported numerous times.

Very soon after the incident the family, through their lawyer put out one single press release. This was in the press release. You can read it yourself. It’s an undeniable fact.

It’s from this press release that discussions of Aspbergers came from. Not speculation. This is not a difficult concept.

Yeah, I agree it’s probably not going to go away. It’s just fucked up that he couldn’t have just left it at suicide. I find it hard to accept this whole “going out in a blaze of glory” schtick as an unfortunate side effect of the info age.

It’s so obvious to me that he had more going on that a mild case of Asperger’s that it’s kind of joke to act as this diagnosis answers anything.

Totally agree. Asperger’s was the least of his problems.

[QUOTE=John Nash (A Beautiful Mind)]
If we all go for the blonde and block each other, not a single one of us is going to get her. So then we go for her friends, but they will all give us the cold shoulder because no on likes to be second choice. But what if none of us goes for the blonde? We won’t get in each other’s way and we won’t insult the other girls. It’s the only way to win. It’s the only way we all get laid.

It is when a Nobel Prize winner says it.

He was describing a nosh equilibrium
(for those unfamiliar with the Yiddish slang: Urban Dictionary: nosh and Nash’s contribution Nash equilibrium - Wikipedia)

I tried googling, but I’m not sure I’ve got it right, but what’s AMSR?

Yes, obviously, and equally so, I think, his issue wasn’t just a case of narcissism. Most narcissists completely embrace an egoistic self-perception of perfection which supersedes any contrary evidence; they don’t find it necessary to kill themselves because the external world doesn’t jibe with it. On the contrary, they typically find ways to manipulate others–usually vulnerable people–to buy into the same ideology, and feed it even further. This guy, however, in the same breath was saying, on the one hand, that he’s God’s gift to the world, and, on the other hand, that he’s a total failure. There’s clearly some kind of psychopathology going on here in the contradiction, but the strangest thing is that he seemed to be completely unable to see that contradiction himself.

Uh, yeah. And the dark-skinned hombre would have just stood there and took it while you humiliated him in front of his girlfriend. Can you say “epic beatdown” ?

I thought this contradictory thinking is what makes people with narcissism PD so scary. They thrive on “narcissistic supply”. If they don’t have someone always telling them how great and wonderful they are, their fragile egos completely fall to pieces and then they turn their narcissistic rage outward, in a self-destructive way. It’s like they realize they aren’t as great as they thought they were, which is depressing. But they still believe they are vastly superior to all the dumbasses they imagine are laughing at them, and this infuriates them.

A guy like this doesn’t become so self-entitled on his own. Perhaps his family raised him with an overly inflated sense of self, always telling him how smart and handsome and kind he was. Maybe they were driven by good intentions to do this. A person with poor social skills need something to hang his hat on, after all.

Men’s Rights Advocate/Activist

As mentioned in an earlier post, originally about equality in custody/support, but since greatly discredited as a descriptor by becoming an expanded catch-all where both “Nice Guys”[sup]TM[/sup] and failed would-be-“Alphas” latch on to when the turn of the wheel goes against them and society has the nerve to tell them to deal with it.

A claim which doesn’t explain why he started his spree by killing three men.

And he did say he wanted to kill men as well.

He by all appearances hated everyone, not just women.

I think it’s quite apparent that the person he hated most was himself. For all his pathetic preening (‘perfect gentleman’, etc) it’s clear he didn’t believe a word of it. He knew he was a loser, that’s what prompted the rage.

Or he did believe it, and the world refusing to go along with his fantasy is what set him off. Both are possible.

[QUOTE=Der Trihs;17404568And he did say he wanted to kill men as well.

Yes, he hated men too. He hated that those that he thought of as not as good as him got women and he didn’t.

They haven’t released the details yet but he stabbed three men to death in his apartment, two of whom are presumably his roommates with whom he has a lot of conflict.

It’s stupid to pretend that there’s nothing at all we can do about it. Drunk driving fatalities, for instance, have more than halved in the last 30 years despite the huge increase in number of drivers and cars - in large part because we as a society decided that this shit wasn’t acceptable anymore. It wasn’t an overnight switch, but the attitude shift happened. There’s no reason we can’t put that same sort of firm, steady pressure on misogynistic attitudes and, if not eliminate it, severely marginalize and delegitimize it.
