Fuck you Cub Fans

and sexy!

Howyadoin,

The poor bastard got outed by The Smoking Gun and the Sun-Times. Turns out he’s a diehard Cubs fan and a youth baseball coach.

Wanna have a contest to see who’s rooting hardest for the Cubs to win tonight? I’ve got a contender in mind…

-Rav

Well, that was damned quick. Note the tense of the article—did they just type this up–what, an hour ago?

Interesting…

and

as well as

So he’s 26 now. 11 years ago, when he played on that team, he would have been 15.

You have obviously never been to the (ex-) Vet. Philly phans do that all the time - to their own team. Cubs fans might get a little unruly, but do they have a COURT in the stadium? No. So give 'em a break, OK?

Dude - it’s the PLAYOFFS. The freaking WORLD SERIES is on the line. Tensions run high. Fans are hungry for a “W” when it matters most. People say stupid stuff and do stupid stuff. If you can HONESTLY say that you have NEVER offended anyone at a sporting event, intentionally or otherwise, then you can smack my ass and call me Susan.

Of course I am biased and I think that Philly phans are the best in the whole known Universe plus some places that haven’t been discovered yet, but I will also say this - there ain’t NOWHERE on Earth quite like Wrigley Field to see a ballgame. Cubs fans ain’t like nobody else on the PLANET. Love 'em or leave 'em - but for Og’s sake, get a sense of perspective!

. . . maybe a beer a day, for life. You can’t buy publicity this good. People who don’t care about post-season baseball unless their team is playing will tune to tonight’s game just to see what happens.

It’s marketing gold. Almost makes you wonder if Fox somehow scripted it in some kind of evil manipulative corporate plot. . . you know, a “vast right-field conspiracy” . . .

(I know, wrong side, but the pun doesn’t work as well in left field)

the guy now has a police guard outside his house because Inside Edition has found him.

If the Cubs win, I hope they let the guy throw out the First Pitch to show there are no hard feelings.

Then he could just take the ball and shove it in his pocket, instead of throwing it to the catcher

Doesn’t the catcher give the guy the ball back anyway?

Eh, even if he did swipe the ball, fewer people would be pissed off than are now.

No, not al lCubs fans are assholes, but honestly the over-reaction by many (and yes, many) is eroding any goodwill capital they may have had as loyal, symapthetic ‘lovable losers’.

While I wouldn’t go as far as the pouring beer (a waste of perfectly good suds) I could understand blowing off steam for an hour or two afterwards, especially as I watched that un-frickin-believable 8th unfold and slowly realized how screwed they were for that game.

If anybody’s still talking serious trash today, that’s sorta unbalanced though. I’m talking like death threats, etc.

Sigh. I ride the 4 train home and will be able to see inside the stadium through that big crack they have to this afternoon’s ACLS game. It may seem weird given my location, but I hope the Sox win the next two so the Curse can be lifted SOMEwhere. Lived half my life in Boston and got sooo sick about hearing about it, especially since us New Yorkers didn’t really think much about the Sox in return–just another speed bump on the preordained road to the Winner’s Circle.

And oh yeah, fwiw I’m rooting for the Cubs too. When the last time you made it there was a Roosevelt in the White House (either one will do), you deserve the Serious at least! And the Marlins have no resonance with me–if you weren’t around when I was born, you’re not “real”.

GRILL THOSE FISH!!

You’ve been patiently following the Cubs for 95 years? I’m impressed.

If you haven’t been following them that long, then you should shut your mouth. Apart from the Red Sox, fans of no other team seem to whine as much as Cubs fans about how long it’s been since they were champions. There are at least ten other teams that have gone 30+ years without a World Series championship and you don’t hear them talking about curses or bemoaning their misfortune. (My team, the Pirates, won it all a mere 24 years ago.) I’m hoping the Cubs make the series just so they’ll find something else to grumble about. We all want our team to win the World Series every year - but most fans don’t act as though it is a personal affront that teams that do nothing more than play better than them dare to beat them.

Did it say that he played on the 13 yo team?

If it was like most youth “clubs” I’ve seen, they probably have different age bracket teams, but the same team names.

That surprises me Gundy, I’ve have been to many games at Turner Field and have never seen anything more than good natured ribbing directed at opposing teams. On the other hand I’ve been led to believe if I wore my Braves hat to a game in Yankee Stadium I could expect to be physically assaulted. (If thats true its pretty ridiculous.)

I have to say that the reactions I have seen and heard and read of many Cubs fans have left a bad taste in my mouth. So many people wanting to hurt this poor guy for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Its pathetic, sad and ugly. It wasn’t that fans fault - he didn’t give up the runs or make the poor plays or the bad decisions. His reaction was the same as 99% of us would’ve had had we been in his place.

So Cubs fans, no matter what the outcome of game 7 is you need to speak out about this insanity. Stop giving yourselves a collective black-eye over all of this.

I love baseball, really and truly love it - but when it comes down to it. . . its just a game. I know it can be hard to put that in perspective given the current state of things, but no one deserves to be afraid to leave their house over a game.

Its just a damned game..

Do the right thing and lighten up.

Seriously.

Um, it’s a 13 year old team, not a team for 13 year olds.

My reaction in another forum earlier today:

Jesus Christ! Shut the fuck up about the fan already! You guys are going on and on with your whining like Alou was guaranteed a catch, frankly I give him a 50% chance of catching that ball, at best, if the fan steps back. Honestly, y’all sound worse than Steeler fans with this constant cry baby stuff. YOUR team gave up 8 runs, YOUR team screwed the pooch, YOUR team is going to be doing what it always does in October-play golf-unless they pull together and act like the champions they purport to be. When this series started, I was the textbook example of a fan of another team, one that had been eliminated, rooting for the Cubs in a big way. “Wouldn’t it be great if they won for the first time in a century?” “Boy, I hope the Cubs win, their fans deserve a championship after all this time!” Now, after listening to all of these pre-pubesent, kindergarden hissey fits eminating from the Windy City like stink from the carcass of a dead dog, all I can say is…
GO FISH!
And I hope it’s 95 more years before they even sniff the Series again, too.

Damn, I was hoping they’d win so the OP would look like an even bigger ass.

'Course I had already given up that hope by the sixth.

May I be the first to say BWAAAAHAHAHAHAAA!!!

I bet we know where the lynch mob is headed.

Well, the OP has been banned, so we’ll never know how he/she feels about this.
