Everyone bitching about cubs fans should settle down. No one on this thread is going to go find him and beat him up. It’s just an irrational expression of anger. He may leave the city permanently now that the Cubs lost the series. Gov. Jeb Bush offered him asylum at a Florida resort. There are plenty of people who will do irrational things. At any rate, a group of drunken bar patrons could easily mobilize towards this person’s house, with tragic results.
I do think that the Sun-Times was irresponsible in printing his name and place of employment, although their culpability is somewhat less in 2003 than it would have been in an earlier era. That info would have gotten on the net anyway, and traveled so fast it would have made the dissemination of the Star Wars Kid video, the Tourist Guy photos, and Mahir’s site look like slow evolution.
This is mostly in jest. The part about “asylum” anyway. He’s been offered a three month stay at a resort in Pompano Beach, FL. I’ve heard something about the Illinois governor making the crack that he hopes that the fan doesn’t commit any crimes while he is governor.
