Fuck you Garnier Fructis & your trendy looking bottle!!!!

Okay, Garnier Fructis, I watch your fucking commercial, and think “ohhh okay I think I’ll change shampoo, again”. It nourishes hair from root to tip, works inside the hair strand to strengthen it, it smoothes the hair to the tip and it smells nice too. So, I buy it on Sunday. I love how my hair feels and I am so thrilled by the results that I recommend it to my best pals.

On Tuesday, I noticed small blisters on the tips of my fingers. No problem, I’m fair skinned and some times the heat and sun produces some strange skin reactions on a girl like me. It progressively grew worse as the week continued. By Thursday I figured it was that new carpet cleaner I purchased and vowed to never use it again without rubber gloves. By Saturday, the palms of my hands and all 10 fingers were so swollen with tiny blisters that I couldn’t even open a beer.

Since I had come to the conclusion it wasn’t the carpet cleaner (I had not used it), I assumed it was the fucking Garnier Fructis. I stopped using it last Sunday. The blisters have slowly disappeared but now my hands are peeling. YOU FUCKING BASTARDS! I have never used a shampoo that caused this kind of reaction. What fucking chemicals are you using that caused my skin to blister and peel off? I look like a damned freak! I’d wear gloves in public if it didn’t draw attention!

In the words of Sat on Cookie, "FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING FUCK!"

FUCK!

I’ve never had a problem with their products.

That’s really weird. I’ve been tempted to try their stuff, but I’ve discovered L’oreal Vive and I am in LOVE - both the smoothing shampoo in the orange bottle and the Fresh Shine in the white bottle. I LOVE this stuff. I have long, very very thick hair and it doesn’t hurt my hair to brush it, and when I dry it, it’s SO soft and shiny - I rarely even use my flat iron on it anymore.

Ava

How could it break out your hands and not your scalp?

Try Queen Helene’s Mint Julip-you can only get it at beauty supply stores, though. It’s concentrated, so a little bit goes a long way and it smells soooo good.

It’s also wonderful for my hair.

Logically, I agree with you. But I have no scientific answers.

It was the only new product I used during that period of time. Since I have stopped using the said product there are no more blisters, just peeling skin.

I hate fructis too, the stuff just does not wash out… and the taming water? makes your hair crunchy for feck sake!

Use pantene… only decent shampoo & conditioner for curly hair, imo. Of course thats of no relevance to you if your hairs not curly.

Anyway are you going to get in touch with Garnier?

A few months ago, I had some reaction to something – I don’t know – which resulted in the same thing im2evil4u described. There were little blisters all over my hands and fingers, especially on the sides, and the same thing on my feet. After a week, the blisters reached their peak size. My hands peeled for about two or three weeks, and my feet are still peeling. WTF?

Are you sure you didn’t have a dose of ‘hand, foot and mouth’ (sorry, I don’t know the medical name), but it is a virus that particularly plagues young kids and is especially contagious.

I don’t think so, because nothing affected my mouth. It was just the hands and feet.

At least the commercials have that cool theme by the Transplants (“Diamonds and Guns”, anticipating the query).

Una

I get that too, little fluid-filled bumps and then peeling.

I think it’s ezcema.

I used the 3-minute hair repair or whatever it is, and I got horrible rashes on my neck and face. Now I stick to Dove.

sounds like an allergic reaction. It’s not eczema from the sounds of it. My son has eczema and it looks nothing like you described. I get allergic reactions on my hands from chemicals and it sounds like your symptomes and mine are the same. FTR I don’t get the rashes anywhere except my hands.

Man, I’ve sudenly got a rash of little blisters on my fingers, esp. the sides, and I was going to post on here to ask what is was. Looks like I don’t have to bother now.

The first 50 thousand times saw the commercial, I could’ve sworn that it was some Radio Birdman tune I’d never heard before, and got nice and pissed thinking about Denis Tek selling shampoo. Then I discovered it was the Transplants, and felt relieved, because Lance Armstrong’s been a chump for at least ten years.

Garnier fructis PSSHT! gel is garnier fructis SHIT! Gel,judging by that.

FWIW:
Hand Foot and Mouth
My kids just got over a dose of “Hand, Foot and Mouth” and I happened to catch it as well. It’s one of those childhood things that everybody gets. I must have dodged it last time around because all I got were itchy little blisters on my hands and feet which are now peeling. Big fun to peel off, btw. My two oldest only had fevers, no spots. The babies had textbook cases. According to the Doc, it can present itself in different ways, particularly in adults. So HF&M could be a possibility.

Or

Dishydrotic Eczema
My oldest son had eczema pretty bad as a baby. He had the regular itchy flaky eczema almost everywhere but on his fingers and toes he had these red, slightly bumpy patches of skin. If you looked at it really closely, you would see little blisters under the skin. Hydrocortisone creme 2.5% and some other stuff the Doc gave him cleared it up in a few weeks. I got a patch of it on my palm when I was pregnant. It itches and stings like a bitch. I couldn’t hang with all of the ointments so I took to popping the blisters with a pin. It was so bad I carried a saftey pin on my keychain for on-the-go popping. It cleared up after I gave birth.

Sorry for the long hijack, everyone. But as to the OP:
Fructis is o.k. however, their hair mask is da bomb! I’m really digging on this Timotei Cotton and Silk stuff I brought back from Ireland. I have fine curly hair so I have a hard time finding anything that dosen’t weigh down or frizz out my hair.

Ugh, I loved the smell of this stuff but it just did not rinse out of my hair. I spent five minutes after shampooing and five after conditioning just rinsing my hair and it still had products in it. The fact that my hair is very straight and fine really made it obvious too. :frowning:

Hmmm … Let’s see here, blistered and swollen fingers.

That’s gotta be worth five grand, right up front.

Okay now, what else?

“Couldn’t … even … open … a … beer …” Whaaa? WHOA!

Deprivation of alcohol consumption, now that’s an instant hundred thousand bucks!! We’ll own the jury in five minutes!

Cut me a 50% contingency fee and you’ll be drinking Sam Adams for the rest of your life.
