You know, your location entry is really funny given your complaint here. I wonder if it was intentional.
I agree with the OP. Fuck every single one of miserable, brainless cocksuckers who voted for Bush. Fuck every single one of you homophobic crackers that voted for your homophobic cracker amendments. America is dead and yoiu fucking killed it. Now Hitler is going to think he has an open mandate to take away even more of rights, your money, your jobs and your blood.
Say hello to the draft, by the way…and goodbye to Roe Vs. Wade.
America is dead to me.
Not enough to elect that fucking monkey, there aren’t.
Diogenes, look. I too am saddened at a Bush victory. I have my doubts about the tone and direction the country will take in the next four years.
But damn, you’re coming off like a lunatic. Take a few days off from the Board and news in general. Smell a rose. Enjoy the simple pleasures of life. You’ll blow an artery if you don’t.
You know, I try to steer clear of the Pit most of the time…
but this:
Has made me respond.
To wit: Come on! Are you fucking serious? Are you one of these people who promise to leave the US because of our newfound fascist tendencies?
And this:
OK… so Dio…you are on record as saying that with a Bush victory I will lose “more rights”, more money, and possibly my job. (not to mention, apparently, my BLOOD). In addition, I can expect to see a draft implemented and to see Roe v Wade overturned.
Please.
Shall we make this thread an official countdown of the oppressions that another Bush administration lays down on the poor oppressed people?
Or shall we make it an official countdown of the claims that you make that turn out to be WRONG?
Or, best of all, shall we chalk this up to election night hysteria and make nothing of it at all?
Did I say I was going to leave the country? No, I’m not going to leave the country. I don’t want to be victimized by Bush’s foreign policy.
Yes on all counts.
Please.

Why don’t you take it to the bank.
Enjoy the depression.

As a gay man, I can tell you that I’ve lost rights tonight. And if a second war breaks out (say, if Bush feels like tackling Iran and Syria or North Korea starts aggression), then a draft is not unlikely. but RoeVs. Wade’s reversal is certain. Bush will have to replace Rehnquist and O’Connor soon, and he will do so with radically right wing justices. A majority ruling that criminalizes abortion is guaranteed.
[QUOTE=gobear]
Yes, but as I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t think it’s accurate or fair to put all the blame on Bush, or even Republicans in general. If you could, the national polls would be more in line with the divide over the Presidential race, which sadly, it’s not. As much as I hate to say it, there is a significant number of Democrats who don’t “get” the homosexuality issue, especially when it comes to marriage.
But it’s getting better and better, and I don’t think that’ll change.
Y’know, I almost want this to happen, if only to show what a huge liar the Republicans were/are in this election cycle. I think it’ll get EVERYONE’S dander up something fierce.
Out of curiosity, do you actually think such a Court would out and out criminalize abortion on the national level, or just make it criminalizable? Even if the latter results in the former, the two are not equivalent.
Quite right, I used the wrong word. The Bush Supreme Court will remove the legal right to abortion and allow the several states to pass laws to remove a woman’s right to choose.
They can’t criminalize it but they can (and they will if Bush has his way) remove it as a federal right. That would allow the states to pass any draconian anti-abortion law that they want. This will happen. Bush WILL put judges on SCOTUS who will be specifically chosen for that single purpose.
Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.
Who said I was leaving. I’m staying right here with my dick out.
gobear and Dio: I don’t doubt that Bush will certainly make the attempt, if given the opportunity (though hopefully he’ll end up being surprised by how his judges end up voting, as past Presidents were). I was just disputing the way gobear put his assertion in the post I quoted.
If he does make a try, hopefully the draft attempt will come first (if indeed people are right that the attempt will be made at all), because I think it’ll create a firestorm that won’t limit itself to Democrats in any way, and it’ll make future efforts at, well, anything a lot tougher on Bush’s/Republicans’ part.
Wow. Umm…wow.
Dio, I thought you were more rational than me. But I’ve been wrong before.
I guess I’m a homophobic cocksucker. (Explain this one dipshit)
Cracker? OK. I guess I am since I voted for our President. (Notice OUR)
Damn, I was looking forward to a sunrise and full day of work. But America is dead, so I’ll just sleep in.
No! I will not sleep in! America is dead so I shall try to restore order to you screeching little girls! America is mine, I tell you, MINE! My name is Hitler and you shall bow to my corpse! Forget that I’ve been dead for over 50 years! My name is legion and shall be used in toss-off references! FEAR ME!
Seriously, are you comparing Hitler to Bush STILL??!!??
I’ve already pointed out some differences between Hitler and Bush.
And yes, anyone who voted for one of those homophobic amendments is homophobic by definition.
Well, ND just voted for Bush, Dorgan and Pomeroy. Will you promise to protest Dorgan and Pomeroy as much as you Bush on this issue? :dubious:
Didn’t think so.
OK, then…everyone here seems convinced that Bush (if he gets the chance) will appoint a SCOTUS judge that will singlehandedly overturn Roe V Wade. You apparently forget what happens to an anti-abortion judge when facing Senate confirmation…they get (literally) crucified in the press, and subsequently…not confirmed.
Does anyone remember the last two justices nominated AND confirmed under a Republican president?
Oh, that’s right: Clarence Thomas and that bastion of conservatism David Souter! Both by the first Bush.
But I will never dismiss the power of the press and the vitriolic liberal Senators when it comes to Supreme Court justices…it is literally the last attack on your source of power. As such, I expect you to make every effort and press every attack available to you…and I would expect nothing less. That is how the game is played.
But when you talk about the draft being reinstated, I must draw the line. Have any of you spent time in the MODERN military? By that I mean have you been on active duty AFTER 1986 or so?
I spent over 10 years on active duty in the modern military, and I left active duty as a Major. I can tell you that a draft is not wanted and will not work in the modern military. Period.
In fact, if there is a draft implemented in the next two years (let’s say before 1/1/2007) then I will write Dio a check for $250. (Ten bucks for every month betwen now and then).
All I ask in payment is that if there is NOT a draft by 1/1/2007 that Dio comes on this board and publicly admits that he was wrong and I was right about the draft.
Is that fair? Or should I not bring money into this thing?
Is there anything that can be brought into the discussion that can prevent wild, unprovable accusations from being made? Other than the truth, of course, which means nothing…
Shit, poorly worded. ND passed the gay-marriage ban. The state also elected Bush, Dorgan and Pomeroy. Same electors. Therefore, the electorate is against gay marriage and (presumedly) for the war. Will you afford the same vitriol to our decent Democrat congressmen?
It depends on how they vote on the issue. If they vote for it, I’ll peel the skin off 'em. I’m not a Democrat anyway, so why would I defend them?
Actually, my mother knows both those guys personally (she used to be a political reporter in ND). They’re good dudes. Solid moderate Democrats. They bring home the bacon on those farm subsidies.
Many closeted gays are homophobic. Also, there are homophobic women too. It is entirely possible to be a homophobic cocksucker.
And yeah, I don’t see how anyone could vote for the SSM ban and claim not to be homophobic. I could see someone who voted for Chimpy but voted against the ban as being okay (on that issue anyway) but these measures were designed to discriminate against a minority group. They’re not tacked on as a rider for something else. Your taxes aren’t going to be raised if SSM is legalized. They have but one purpose: discrimination.
I will repeat, if you voted to ban SSM, you are a homophobe.
And Ohio’s ban affects more than just gays. Straight females who are shacking up with a male partner need to read the fine print.
On preview: If Dio doesn’t take that bet, then I sure will. Except I think the time limit should be longer, say to 1/1/08? It might take that long to exhaust all our military resources.
