OK, then…everyone here seems convinced that Bush (if he gets the chance) will appoint a SCOTUS judge that will singlehandedly overturn Roe V Wade. You apparently forget what happens to an anti-abortion judge when facing Senate confirmation…they get (literally) crucified in the press, and subsequently…not confirmed.

Does anyone remember the last two justices nominated AND confirmed under a Republican president?

Oh, that’s right: Clarence Thomas and that bastion of conservatism David Souter! Both by the first Bush.

But I will never dismiss the power of the press and the vitriolic liberal Senators when it comes to Supreme Court justices…it is literally the last attack on your source of power. As such, I expect you to make every effort and press every attack available to you…and I would expect nothing less. That is how the game is played.

But when you talk about the draft being reinstated, I must draw the line. Have any of you spent time in the MODERN military? By that I mean have you been on active duty AFTER 1986 or so?

I spent over 10 years on active duty in the modern military, and I left active duty as a Major. I can tell you that a draft is not wanted and will not work in the modern military. Period.

In fact, if there is a draft implemented in the next two years (let’s say before 1/1/2007) then I will write Dio a check for $250. (Ten bucks for every month betwen now and then).

All I ask in payment is that if there is NOT a draft by 1/1/2007 that Dio comes on this board and publicly admits that he was wrong and I was right about the draft.

Is that fair? Or should I not bring money into this thing?

Is there anything that can be brought into the discussion that can prevent wild, unprovable accusations from being made? Other than the truth, of course, which means nothing…

Well, let me say it this way. If it was an election between Hitler and Bush. I’d definitely vote for Bush. Although, I know that whatever comes out of his mouth is probably bullshit.
