Fucking Big 12 Officials

What just happened? How did Ohio State just win that? That was not pass interference! The game should have been over with Miami up by a touchdown. The ref even called it incomplete at first! How did his mind change to make him think interference?
Sorry if this is incoherent, I’m now wiping the foam from my mouth.

whining about Big 12 officials? You are a rookie compared to us Mizzou fans. You ever get kicked balls in the End Zone? 5th Downs? I don’t think so…
j/k

Like the refs hadn’t missed any calls that should have gone the other way over the course of the game. Waaa.

I have to admit, I was confused. Who threw the flag? Was it the same guy who was waving it incomplete? He was 2 feet away from the play, and I never saw him throw the flag. Did it come from another ref?

The ref close waved it incomplete THEN the ref on the other side of the end zone called pass interference on UM, IIRC. Pisses me off a lot too!!! Then again, if Miami played to its full capacity, there wouldn’t have been a need for OT. sigh

Miami played to its full capacity, they were just overrated. They didn’t play a top 15 team the whole season, and when they finally did, they were exposed. I just hope this game shows the wisdom of the Heisman voters in not choosing either Dorsey or McGahee.

Growing up in St. Louis, and going to college at NMSU, I always thought that Mizzou’s problems had more to do with crappy football teams. (Sorry!)

yes, the football team perpetually sucks, but our few shots at glory get killed by refs and their seeing eye dogs.

Having seen the play over and over the only mystery is not who threw the flag, but who did not. There was a play earlier when an OSU player was called for “defensive holding” because his hand was caught in the Miami players jersey. Looks like that Miami DB was mugging the OSU player compared to that.

Unless my eyes fooled me, there was clearly holding against the reciever on the play, right before the questionable interference call. Replays showed this over and over.

Calls, good or bad, are part of football, and they usually even out over the course of a game.
Good game, two good teams, somebody had to win.

Let’s also remember that there was clearly holding going on when Ohio State was trying to run out the clock in regulation. It was third down, and the DB pulled the jersy of the OSU receiver about a foot off of his body, and it was never called. If that gets called, OSU runs out the clock in regulation. OSU gets that call, it’s a first down and they run out the clock without Miami getting a chance for that last-second field goal. So the ‘questionable calls’ were certainly at least even over the course of the game.

Miami just ran into the best defence they’ve played in two years, and were too stupid or impatient to keep throwing the 5 yard slants to the receivers who were being given 10 yard cushions. And they lost. Neener Neener Neener.

Well, count me as someone who saw defensive holding on that controversial play. The defender made contact with the receiver well before the ball got there, if not enough to warrant “pass interference.” Under NCAA rules, the penalty for def. holding would have been the same as the alloted penalty for PI in that situation (automatic first down, half the distance to the goal line). So even if it wasn’t technically the right call, it had the same effect.

What amused me the most was what Dan Fouts was saying about the call. After saying over and over again that there was no foul, after about the 37th replay he admitted, “Well, maybe there was holding, but it wasn’t pass interference!”–as if that somehow would have bailed out Miami.

If you’re a Miami fan, and you really want to complain, how 'bout putting the blame where it really lies–on the Miami secondary for letting OSU convert a 4th-and-14, four plays before the call in the end zone. Any MNC-caliber defense should have stopped that one.

For those of you that don’t follow college football, but would still like to flame Big 12 refs, here is an article about the call.

Nah, who really got screwed was USC, who played the nation’s toughest schedule. If there was a playoff, they’d have easily won the national title.

(And I really don’t care one way or another about Miami, OSU, or USC.)

USC didn’t get screwed…they screwed themselves. If they had not lost 2 games during the season, then maybe they would have earned the chance to play in the Fiesta for the national championship.

As it turned out though…they simply didn’t earn the chance to play for the title because they weren’t good enough.

You know, I was pretty pissed at those refs and umps throughout the entire game for missed calls. The first quarter had enough to fill a bucket and yes, they were against Miami, so go screw.

Considering Miami couldn’t keep OSU from converting a 4th and 14 and couldn’t score a TD in four tries from two yards out, I find the complaining about one call a bit hard to swallow.
