Fucking idiot coronavirus-loving rednecks in Michigan

 This is a whoosh, right? You’re not seriously trying to suggest that carrying a gun doesn’t pose any more serious and immediate threat to public safety than burning a flag, and so we shouldn’t regulate the former any more strictly than we regulate the latter?

My apologies if this was an obvious joke and I just failed to get it.

I’m not saying that it’s the same. I’m just saying that it’s the sametactic.

Carrying a gun in public makes the public safer. Any gun-carrying person will tell you that.

The difference being burning a flag harms absolutely nobody unless you do it while filling your gas tank.

Parading around state capitol buildings isn’t just exercising the right to bear arms; it’s a political statement, but it’s not just a political statement. It’s political intimidation. There’s no other way to interpret it, and the kinds of shit you read in their facebook chats pretty much spells it out. They fantasize about violent revolution and taking out their enemies. For most, I’m sure it’s just dick waving and jacking off to war movies, but there’s always that one in X number of people who just might take these messages to heart.

They’re not just playing with fire; they’re playing with atoms. This is really toxic shit and I’m getting fed up with it.

The names are fine, since they appeared in the article, but it appears that you added the locations for most of them yourself. This is a little close to the line on doxxing people, so I’ve gone back and edited out the locations.

No warning issued.

  1. There are, in fact, locations for some of the guys in the article I linked to. Why did you edit those out?

  2. The reporter found their locations the same way I did: Facebook. How is posting information here doxxing, but it’s not when it’s posted it in the Detroit Metro Times (or Detroit Free Press, or Chicago Reader, or New York Times)? It’s publicly-available information, easily found with absolutely no effort.

  3. There are other news sources on the internet besides the one I linked to that now have these fellas’ locations in full view.

  4. I’m not revealing anyone’s hidden info (home address, phone number, actual identity).

Yeah their info’s pretty easy to find - it was already ‘doxxed’ by the article that was linked.

We’re talking about people who are pretty openly having discussions that come perilously close to the incitement of civil unrest. I don’t normally advocate doxxing and I don’t go out of my way to do it even with people I think are deserving of it.

But these conversations come on the heels of people showing up at a state capitol for the purposes of trying to intimidate people who were duly, democratically elected. It’s clear that they sympathize with and seemingly encourage such behavior.

I fail to see how they’re much different in spirit from Putin’s Night Wolves.

So link to one of those sources. Nobody’s going to object to that.

I’m glad this thread provoked Moderator action and, particularly, the ATMB thread as otherwise I would have missed it altogether.

Obviously the quotes all come from bitter and hate-filled subhuman right-wingers, but this one especially caught my eye:

Explicit admission that this is all about politics. Trump is the catalyst which has turned a once-great nation into a cesspool of hatred.

Heaven help America.

Well, unless the person carrying the gun happens to be a minority.

Yep. They’ve spent years saying they need their weapons to prevent Democrats (by which they mean minorities) from doing exactly what the heck these loons are now doing. Odd that they used to support democratically elected representation but now that the damn dirty lying sack of dung in the White House has tarnished that idea, they’re all about having it their way and only their way, even, and especially, if it comes to armed rebellion.

They’re not subhuman. They’re just disgusint examples of humans. You are correct about their motivation. Why are they bitter? Their hatred did not permit them to accept a Black man is legitimate. That’s why they freaked out over Obama becoming president. And of course Trump’s recent tweeting of Obama’s full name had no ulterior motivation behind that at all, no sirree.
