This seems like a prime opportunity to teach these people that they are no longer welcome in our communities. They’re doing this without disguises, telling us exactly who they are. They have cars, and their licenses plates can be looked up.
If I owned a business, the first thing that would happen (once I could have customers again, if I’m not essential) would be a sign outside saying that those who protested the lock down are not allowed on the premises for people’s own safety. If I had been forgiving house payments or energy payments, that would go away for these people.
I already dropped a Facebook friend who freaked out because I pointed out how he was being unChristlike by opposing the lockdown. He sounded like he was going to start the protest here in fucking Arkansas, where the governor actually avoided a full lock down. The same guy who would get into such debates with me before just silently chickens out when I point out that God himself restricted movement all throughout the Bible.
More and more, we find out who the evil people are. It started when they would show their true colors while supporting Trump. Now we see it in this pandemic. At this point, claiming your “misinformed” when everyone is giving all the information you need doesn’t work.
As I’ve said for a long time, a person’s value as a human being is directly proportional to how much they want to help others. It has to at least be a 50/50 split. Or, in Christianese: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Sadly, the only real result would be another herd of them protesting outside your business.
Oh, yeah. Another thing is they’ll spread the damn disease and blame it on their usual suspects (Obama, Hillary, etc.). After all, the party of personal responsibility demands you take responsibility for things that are their fault.
Okay, sorry, gotta nitpick. (I mean, it’s the Dope, it’s what we do…)
That’s not the Stars and Bars. The Confederate flag beloved of racists and shitheads all over the world is the battle flag, which, as the name suggests, was a originally an army flag. It was created so troops on the field had a flag easily distinguishable from Old Glory. Which was not the case with the Stars and Bars, the Confederacy’s official flag.
Carry on. These assclowns deserve all the scorn we can pour on them.
The way you do it is you and the wolf get into the rowboat and tell the redneck that you’ll be back for him and the can of Bud as soon as the wolf is safely on the other side. When you reach the other side of the river, you continue on your journey with the wolf as your faithful companion. The key to resolving this particular logical puzzle is recognizing that both the redneck and the can of Bud have exactly zero value so there is no point in transporting them anywhere. It’s a bit of a trick question.
Seeing these protests is the first time that I’ve genuinely feared this virus will be the event that really ends civilization as we know it. It’s as though George W Bush had encouraged Americans after 9/11 to get back to their lives, and go back to work, sport and recreation, but encouraged everyone to strap explosive suicide vests to themselves while doing so.
To be fair, the entire continent of Australia is trying to kill everyone and everything anyway.
The other big difference is that after 9/11, President Bush said “We are not at war with Islam” in an effort to keep the bigoted jackasses from going on a rampage against Muslims or those whom the bigoted jackasses perceive to be Muslim. Sadly, though, his effort had little effect. Now, with this pandemic, the fucking president* is actively encouraging other bigoted jackasses (you know he is one) to mistreat others, especially those they perceive as Chinese. And it is having more than a little effect.
*Good God, it galls me to use that term for that damn dirty lying incompetent bigoted immoral ignorant racist corrupt sack of crap.
To be fair, that’s our 2nd Amendment equivalent. Just we don’t wallow or exercise it with merkin enthusiasm. Which all goes to show That it’s rather the Lower 48 that is the appropriate perch for these roosters.
There are a few Republican Governors (notably DeWine in Ohio and Hogan in Maryland) who have adopted similar policies. Are they getting protests? If not, why not?
