Colorado has joined in but health care workers staged a counter-protest.
So why can’t governors do this?

[li]When protests are being organized, announce that anyone who violates shelter-at-home orders (e.g., by getting out of cars and congregating in public) will be arrested.[/li][li]Take everyone who’s arrested to a common location (e.g. an empty stadium or sports arena) and leave them there to await trial.[/li][li]Make sure they’re kept confined for at least two weeks, to give the virus time to manifest.[/li][li]Release anyone who tests negative after two weeks.[/li][li]Compassionately treat anyone who gets sick.[/li][/ol]
Seems like a win-win to me. If very few people in the confined community get sick, it proves they were right – the lockdown was too severe and unnecessary. They should be thrilled to prove themselves right!
If on the other hand, a large proportion get sick, at least we’ve removed the possibility of them spreading the disease through their irresponsible behavior.
What’s that you’re saying about civil rights? But you broke a law! Just like those people who cross the border illegally or overstay their visas! You get the same rights they get!
We can now change the thread title from “Michigan” to “all over the fucking place”. Signs saying, “Fauci is wrong!” are in every protest. Wrong about what, exactly?
I’ll keep saying it: I hope the right people get the fucking disease.
Sorry, but there’s absolutely nothing sociopathological about wanting jack asses to come down with this shit.
“Don’t hate people for being stupid.”
I don’t - I hate them for being stupid and being reckless with their stupidity. If a group of people were protesting that they had the right to public intoxication or that they had the right to drink beer while driving a car, I would fucking hate their asses, and so would a lot of people. This is potentially much, much worse.
If you’re going to take the time to head off to Olympia and protest the governor, and make a nice big sign, wouldn’t you take a few moments to check and see if you spelled the Governor’s name right?
The Seattle Times shows a photo today of young woman holding a sign
We’re gonna see a big spike in deaths 3 weeks from now from these idiots. By then, many restrictions will be eased or lifted like these jackasses want. Then they’ll be on full lockdown for another few months. Serves them right, but what about me and other common sense believers? Here’s hoping the leading cause of infection are for those who believe in crackpot CTs and those who have a fetish for orange makeup.
They should designate one park, one beach, and a handful of restaurants for those who insist on being out!
Let them all mix with each other at will.
Darwin would approve!
Some countries in Asia has imposed a proviso if you ignore the warnings and end up warded in a hospital, no (Private or public) insurance coverage, you pay in full for it all.
How do the health insurance providers for these boneheads feel about this?
I’m surprised they haven’t had anything to say! Care for this can’t be cheap and I’m betting your family is all on the same provider.
It Is sociopathic.
Actually that’s a great idea! Whoever wants to live normally go out, everyone else can enjoy being locked in as long as they want.
I would back this 100%, but how do authorities know if you ignored the warnings or not?
Well, it MIGHT be; however, it seems to overlook the possible existence of households that have some members who hold one preference, and some members who hold the other.
The real problem is those with no choice in the matter. You can’t give the reckless ones their own hospitals, doctors, pharmacies, and grocery stores.
What the fuck is “Land Free”?
Have these morons given up on the most basic rules of communication?
Great, now I have Hendrix’ “Stone Free” stuck in my head.
I believe it says “of the” in tiny letters on the doofus’ sign. Should add “virus” to the end to make more sense. Land of the free virus. Yes. Go the fuck home, dingbat with sign.
It’s that Twitter mentality, you see. Leaving out the middle bit to save seven characters.
pfffft…I had “Born Free” in my head, n’yah!
Fuck-en eeeehhhhh. Those docs are my heroes.
Odd - seem to be quite a few trucks and the odd humvee getting held up.
They really are idiots. Because it occurred to me that most of these yahoos probably don’t live in their state capitals - they are traveling there from rural areas just to be a part of these crowded events. Events that are being held in areas that are more highly populated-and have a much higher infection rate- than the rural counties where they live.
Really, all I can say right now is, We’ll see. Let’s just see what happens in two weeks. But an outbreak really wouldn’t have to be THAT large to overwhelm little rural community hospitals. We’ll see.
Yeah, those people are asshats who are okay with putting others at risk. Don’t fucking lie about them to make it look like ALL conservatives are on the same side of the fence they are. That doesn’t paint you in the best light either, y’know.
I lean mostly right, as does my family. We’re all abiding by the rules of our state. My entire extended family is more conservative and THEY’RE all obeying their local laws as well. The absolute worst I hear is my uncle and cousin upset that they can’t attend church. I roll my eyes, but hey, it’s their right to be upset. Most conservatives aren’t doing the shit referenced in this post, yet apparently we’re all thrown under the same bus. Gee, thanks.
No where in that post you quoted did it imply that all conservatives are asshats. All of these asshats are conservative is not the same as all conservatives are asshats. As for his actual implication, you can see examples of those asshats on this very page and I’m not pointing at you.
