Fun with comics at Superdickery.com

Old comic books are a source of endless joy. Whether you like the stories they tell or admire the art, it’s well worth preserving and commenting on them even today. Sometimes, however, you come across something especially great. Something like this. Oh, those innocent days of yore. Nobody even thought about hiding meanings from censors and a double entendre was something you might get slipped under the counter. This one is easy to explain. The other way in is blocked up tight. Nothing questionable going on here, either. Linguistic drift gets the blame for this one, I’m sure. No subtly repressed feelings were unearthed in the making of this panel. And this, this little panel has a perfectly good explanation behind it. Especially in the context of a kiddie pool.

Other kinds of drift went into getting comics from Then to Now. Batman, as you can see, went from a regular pink triangle boy scout to a brooding Cure fan. Superman, however, used to be a real dick. He bitchslapped two pinko commies and precipitated the Cuban Missile Crisis. He “didn’t see” Lois Lane despite all his powers. He slapped both Batman and some random woman around. Superboy was Hitler and, to cap it all off, Superman bowed down to Satan. Real dick, that Superman.

Oh God… the parsing… is this what hypertime feels like?

One of my favorite sites ever. Thanks for sharing the joy.

I love that site. I’m currently reading through he stupid comic book covers section, and boy are they stupid.

Umm…in the past, the SDMB has removed links to that site, due to massive Spyware & Malware.

Just FYI.

Could you point out where the links were disabled or removed, Bosda? I check up on the site frequently myself, and I see it was linked to in two threads in this forum last year without removal, here and here.
I’d certainly appreciate more info about this spyware/malware association with it.

Yes, I too would like to know what adware/malware they have and when SDMB prohibited them.

The site was hacked ages ago, but it’s okay now.

I remember when it was hacked. Some crap was on there then, but the site owner cleared it off. Haven’t had any problems with it, myself.

Cool.

Hadn’t heard about the fix.
