The Great Philosopher just the Word made flesh?
I don’t think that any one article of satire can crumble someones belief system, but the weight of the evidence may begin to build up and may eventually persuade them to rethink their beliefs. At least that’s what happened with me.
Sure, I’d be happy to leave them alone. So long as they pledge to refrain from trying to enact their religious beliefs into law, and to keep all religion out of government. And stop homeschooling their kids. It’s intellectual inbreeding.
I saw something like that before.
I believe anyone who believes what you believe, JerseyDiamond will be tortured for eternity, and anyone who disagrees with you, will be rewarded endlessly.
If I am wrong, I’ll only be wrong for a life time;
If you’re wrong, you’ll be wrong for eternity.
Pascal’s wager?
Isn’t gambling sinful, or something?
That’s called Pascal’s wager. It’s a logical fallacy. Have you learned nothing from this board?
Holy shit, Jersey, that’s one of the nastiest sigs I’ve ever seen.
Pride goeth before destruction, honeybunches.
BTW, Jersey, if you’re wrong, you’ll be wrong for eternity as well, since God will probably toss your ass into hell just for portraying him as an evil, egomanical, unforgiving ayatollah.
But, hey, whatever turns you on.
It’s still a bit better than the bumper stickers that say “You’d be smiling too, if you were going to heaven”
oh, ok.
Of course, only an evil, egomanical, unforgiving ayatollah of a god would throw people in hell for portaying it as an evil, egomanical, unforgiving ayatollah.
BTW I thought the OP was funny.
Kissing Hank’s Ass has been posted at these boards before.
Like a little over three years ago.
Dull, long and not particularly funny. Nothing worse than a lame spoof.
You could tell exactly where it’s going by the fourth line, the rest is just verbage in search of a punchline.
I object to the story because it is long. boring, and contains just slightly more imagination than it took to cut and paste it. It’s just glurge of a different sort, and I never much cared for glurge or the people that think they are deliciously witty for finding and sharing it.
If no one ever sees hank, then no one ever really gets their ass kicked.
So…its not so bad after all…
 I enjoyed it. Except for the part about the hot dog buns. All right-thinking people know that hot dog buns are a sin.
Funny-ish concept, taken way too far. A bit like the sketches in SNL.
Regarding JerseyDiamond’s sig, I think an appropriate counterpoint is this quote from Thomas Jefferson: “Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because if there be one he must approve of the homage of reason more than that of blindfolded fear.”
Glurge, whether it be religious or anti-religious, is still glurge.
