Funniest wordless scenes in sitcoms

A fcouple more from Seinfeld:

George moving the Frogger arcade game across the street.

Jerry’s high school race rematch, with the Superman theme playing.

In the finale of 3rd Rock From the Sun Dick finally tells Mary he’s an alien. She refuses to believe it and he says “Try to imagine everything I’ve experienced as if it had never happened before.”

Albright’s expression turns quickly from disbelief to shock, to laughter, to lust, to fear and several other expressions before she finally turns wide-eyed in amazement and shouts “Oh my God, it’s true!”

The poor man couldn’t speak from trying to keep from laughing himself silly! That is one of the most brilliant skits I’ve ever seen and no matter how many times I see it, I still laugh myself to tears.

Mr. Humphries stuffing a bra. (7:20 - 8:55)

This is my favorite one. For some reason, they edited it for Nick at Night and it just isn’t the same. But it is utterly hilarious.

There was a rather mediocre sitcom on CBS not too long ago called Yes, Dear. It was never a strikingly funny show, but there was one scene from the early seasons that I think is one of the funniest things I have ever seen on TV. It takes some setup, so stick with me…

The gist of the scene is that Greg, who’s a total stick-in-the-mud, gets sweet-talked into going to Las Vegas with his brother-in-law, who he doesn’t really like. Greg is unable to find someone to babysit his son (the women are out of town, or something), so the guys bring the baby with them. While they’re at the casino, the baby takes his first steps. Greg has brought his video camera with him in case this happens, and he films the baby’s steps.

Suddeny the guys realize that they’re in deep trouble for taking a baby to Las Vegas, but Greg doesn’t want his wife to miss seeing her son’s first steps, either. Greg’s BIL comes up with a plan: they’ll take the video to a friend of his who does video editing. He’ll isolate the baby walking and replace the casino scenery with the baby walking in a park. Greg is thrilled, and he agrees to it.

The women get home, and they all sit around to watch the tape. Sure enough, the baby is walking through a park; but it’s a lush Victorian garden with deep greens and brightly-colored flowers (the show took place in L.A.). Then the baby walks across the surface of a pond…

I guess you had to be there, but if I ever find it on youtube…

That scene where he falls behind the bar and you see the plant slowly come up and then see John’s eyes always makes me crack up.

In the first episode of Third Rock From The Sun, Tommy is complaining about all the thoughts that are in the brain of his 13 year old’s body. Dick tells him it can’t be all that bad, so Tommy tells him to mind melde with him.

Then there is a minute scene where the very tall John Lithgow is looking downat the very short Joseph Gordan Levett looking up at him, both with dead serious faces. There was about a two feet difference in their heights, and it’s just hilarious.

It finally ends with Dick saying “That’s just disgusting.”

The **Cheers **episode in which Sam Malone [Ted Danson] and Rebecca Howe [Kirstie Alley] accept invites to be guests on a rich dude’s yachting trip. Both Sam and 'Becca are on the make (he for a beautiful woman friend of the yacht’s owner, she for the yacht’s owner, IIRC) and a half-hour’s sexual farce ensues. At the end, both have failed to seduce their quarries and must [platonically] share a bed for the night.

Sam settles down in bed first. When Rebecca enters the cabin, we see that Sam is really wide awake (he surreptitiously does the one eye/one brow lift shtick as 'Becca is preparing to go to bed), but continues to fake being asleep; to further sell it, he starts to fake snore. After she lies down, he casually turns and slings his arm across her upper torso, with his hand falling down across her bosoms. She, believing he may actually be asleep, gently lifts his arm and drops it back on his side of the bed.

Sam pulls the same trick again; this time, 'Becca is clearly annoyed with him and is more skeptical of his “sleeping”.

As with any classic joke, the third time’s the punchline; Sam tries his luck a third time. 'Becca gently, even seductively, holds Sam’s hand and oh-so-lovingly pulls it down further, further… into the vacuous space of a nightstand drawer she is simultaneously, and quietly, opening. Just as she begins to slam the drawer shut, the lights go out and we hear the impact and Sam’s yell.

Cue closing credits.

My contender would be the Christmas episode where first he makes the lights go out on an entire city block of Christmas light displays to check his silly little bulb, and then later he manages to get his head stuck in the biggest, most obscene Christmas turkey you’ve ever seen (“Friends” ripped this off in one of their episodes).

(It turns out the scene isn’t completely wordless, but I’m posting it anyway because it’s such a classic.)

Yup! Just watched this scene twice in the last two weeks. Once, with my niece and nephew (4 and 2) and my friend who had never seen it! Of course, the best part is the “manger” scene!

Not from sitcoms, but hey:

Richard Simmons as Colin’s jetski on Whose Line is it Anyway?
The popsicle eating twins on The Gong Show.
