Futurama: Bender's Big Score (open spoilers)

Just watched it. I liked it. Kinda weird though, my life mirrors Fry’s. I’m Fry, this girl I’ve known forever is Leala, and my pet bunny rabbit is Nibbler. I’ve even had people tell me I look like Fry!

Shouldn’t you be frozen, then?

Or are you working with narwhals right now, Lars?

Poor Flanders… He is doomed!
I figured out who Lars was about half way through. I wonder where he came up with the name “Lars” though…

I just tried it and got this reply a second later:

I was really disappointed in it, it felt like there were so many cameos but not many jokes. I was interested in the plot because I like the characters but I hardly laughed at all, and I usually laugh all the time watching TV.

Also, I picked up the Lars twist really early, it was supposed to be obvious right?
His last name was Fillmore, IIRC, so I’m betting the inspiration for the name was Millard Fillmore. Remember, they like to lay on the references pretty thick. The professor’s named for the guy who invented TV and Fry’s first name is an homage to the late Phil Hartman (who was clearly supposed to be the voice of Zap).

Arrgh!
This Thread is filled with blacked-out spoilers that I don’t want to read until I get the new DVD- which isn’t available until tomorrow!!!

How do so many of you have spoilers already!?!?!?!?

I will DESTROY you!

They get them by visiting various Bittorr…<grmph!>

Here was the response I received:

*Aloha, Friend!

Bender Bending Rodriguez here, better known as the Robot King. Did you know that the Hawaiian word “Aloha” can mean both “hello” and “goodbye”? However, in the following usage, it only means goodbye. Aloha, jerk!

Yours truly,

Bender

P.S. - Please buy my DVD. And once again, aloha. Jerk.*

I’m guess that’s a causality paradox they didn’t fix.

Pre-ordered on Amazon, and resiting the urge to use “other” methods to watch it. But if it isn’t here tomorrow, which it might not be since Amazon doesn’t always time it’s shipments properly with release dates, and especially since last week was a holiday week and shipping companies might not have been doing as much, I’ll have to resort to less-legal ways.

Well fuck me, according to Amazon it isn’t shipping till tomorrow. WTF?

They’re not allowed to ship before the release date in most cases. That’s why I’m going down to the record store after work tomorrow.

I ordered from Amazon, and (much to my surprise) they sent an email saying that my order had been shipped by USPS yesterday (Sunday, Nov. 25th).

Quick question for those who have seen it:

Does the math in the time travel equation formulated by the Professor and the Globe Trotters actually make any sense? I understand at least one of the writers has an advanced mathematics degree. Anyone wanna take a bite?

What’s ST:III?

I didn’t realize Comedy Central was picking up the classic episodes as well. Does this mean Adult Swim is going to stop airing them? I always just assumed that after they air a couple of times on CC, that they would then get picked up by AS. Like how new episodes of Family Guy wind up on there a week or so after they air on Fox.

At any rate, I am very excited. I have always loved the show very much.

Just a guess: Star Trek III: The Search For Spock (?)

Yes- beginning in 2008, reruns of Futurama will move from Adult Swim to Comedy Central.

Hmm. Is this actually going to be released over here in Region 2 format? The usual places don’t even have it on pre-order yet. I would really love to buy it, if at all possible.
