Future Olympic events - a sporty MMP

Twister.

Operation (with living patients).

Hmmm…who lost in other events.

Up, caffeinated, off to irk

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN 'Tis 73 Amurrkin with a predicted high of 95. Back to real Summer weather.

Ummm… I got nuttin’ this mornin’. So time for more caffiene and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Dizzy Bat Beer Pong.

Ultrablurf. Durned thunderstorm woke me an hour early. I. Must. Caffeinate.

Congrats on the interview, and good luck to you, Nuts! I had an interview yesterday for a 12-month maternity cover job that I am not hugely bothered about. I finished my last assignment yesterday for the agency and have another one starting on Monday so I get three days off to veg around the house.

I was going to meet a friend and fellow temp who is also not working at the moment but her job centre changed the time of a training session so we are meeting tomorrow instead. I will be a lady wot lunches!

Good morning, and ugh. Apparently, my brain was worried about running the kiln overnight (which is weird, because I always run it overnight) to the point that I had a dream in which it literally melted down and self-destructed. I woke every 2-3 hours all night long, so I feel like crap on a cracker with a side of blah.

When I checked at 7:30, the kiln temp was 2112° and rising. It was programmed to hit 2151°, hold for 10 minutes, then turn off and cool on its own. I was just downstairs at 8:45, and it was at 1970° and dropping as I watched. Both studio windows are now open and along with the the fans that run while the kiln is firing, I have another aimed out one of the windows to aid the removal of the hot air. Once the temp drops under 500°, I’ll prop the lid open slightly till it gets under 100°, at which point, I can unload. That may not happen till the morning. We shall see.

The rain overnight and this morning has made it nice and cool outside, at least temporarily, so I’ve got bunches of windows open upstairs and down. In fact, I attempted to sleep with the windows open, and I would have if it hadn’t been for the cats and my irrational worries. I’ve had breakfast and caffeine, and shortly, I will shower. There are enough dirty dishes to run a load, so yay for that. And I might scrub the bathrooms. Maybe. If I feel like it. Who knows.

Honestly, I just want to go back to bed…

But I do like the idea of Olympic Twister, Boyo Jim! Would it be too much if players wore uniforms with either hook or loop fabric on the outside so they risk velcro-ing themselves together??

Oh, wait, that suggests another event - jumping on to a velcro wall, scored on height achieved and style of approach. Ya think?? And the uniforms would be relatively small, so the chance of not sticking would be a factor. Hmmmmmmmm…

OK, off to the shower with me. Happy Wednesday.

My cable modem/router has apparently had a change of heart and is now working better than it ever has since we bought it.

Today I go to assess a friend’s little girl as part of my class project. Then I’m going to storm the castle about this incomplete.

Kinda struggling with the usual today. I started typing it all out but it doesn’t even make sense to me, really. The memorial is a couple of weeks off. I wish it was already here and gone. Everybody keeps talking about closure and I guess that’s really it and I don’t think that any of us will have it until the memorial is over.

Done rambling, off to contemplate breakfast.

Your kiln is inside a building? How large is the kiln? My Ex FILv.1.0 had his outside.

Dirty dishes? Put 'em in the kiln.

Velcro Jumping. I like it!

Events for the common people:

Cattle Herding
Shoelace Tying
Emptying the Trash
Belching
Farting
Navel Lint Excavating
Synchronized Nail Clipping
Flossing

Thisis my kiln. It’s a hobbyist’s kiln, and I discovered yesterday it’s a tad small for the sorts of things I do now. But I won’t be replacing it - I’ll just have to make it work.

Ever since someone suggested Nude Olympics all I can think of is Twister, now that is something people would watch. I know I am a dirty bird, sorry just got stuck in my mind.

Happy Wednesday all, I tend to be quiet when I am stressed hence my lack of posts.

JIM

I did NOT run over a squirrel today.
It’s that Indecision Thing that gets 'em.
There are old squirrels, and there are brave squirrels.
There are no old, brave squirrels.

I finally got a comment on my blog that I could tell it wasn’t spam.

It said my writing sucked, and nothing else. Well gee, dude, if you’d give some actual criticism, I might give some weight to your opinion and not just think you’re an asshole. (I did approve it, and invite them to give actual feedback.)

My bet is on it being someone from the place we’re not supposed to talk about / an asshole Doper.

Speaking of Nude Olympics, when I was at Purdue in the late 70s, there was an unofficial and unsanctioned Cary Quad Nude Olympics but from the link, it appears the university cracked down about 10 years later. No, I never participated or attended. I not only didn’t live in dorms, I didn’t even live on the same side of the river as the university. Anyway, the Nude Olympics were little more than streaking in the snow -* brrrrrrrrrrrr!!*

Dishwasher is running, kiln is down under 1400°, I’ve got an appointment next Weds to have our septic tank pumped, and I’ve vacuumed the cat litter off the basement stairs. Doggone cats are a bit enthusiastic when burying their doo. We should probably install a shield to contain their enthusiasm…

Time to scare up some lunch.

Voldemort has a board?

Olympic Shoelace Tying can’t be any stranger than what I saw yesterday at the office. A man was taking his cast iron collection out for a walk.

In reality, they were testing the elevators to confirm that they can handle the rated load, so he was rolling carts loaded with weights in and out of the elevators.
This morning I finally received word about my friend’s service. We knew there had been an “accident” but all attempts to find anything online, either about what had happened or when the funeral would be came up empty. Now an announcement’s come out that it’ll be Monday. I’d left my black suit temporarily hanging just inside the closet door without storing it away the other day. Now I’ll need it again before it’s put away.

I also got an email from the other two that worked so closely with Judy and I. They’d found an article about what had happened. I thought Judy had been in another car accident because she had a very long commute, lived way out in the country and had rolled her Jeep last year going home. The article though says she died after being shot at her residence. She and her husband were there alone, he called 911, the officer and then EMP tried CPR but she later died. They’re treating it as an accident but going wherever the evidence takes them. There’s two possible outcomes and both are painful to consider. I find myself worrying about what her last moments on earth were like.

I feel a bit numb at all this. Life can get really strange and hard to understand sometimes. This is one of them.
