Chrysler 300 with AWD. I love it, and it’s a good winter vehicle (especially with the Blizzaks on it), but when it snows like this, there’s not enough ground clearance. Luckily, we don’t usually get all that much snow at one time. Now if I lived in Valdez. . .well, a high-rise pickup would be in order.
It is 88 degrees out, sunny with a very faint breeze.
I am enjoying this perfect weather before it gets a hundred and stupid.
Yup. Tues and Wed I got burned to a crisp, sunburn from being outside sampling groundwater all day. Yesterday morning at 07:30 it was raining. 2 seconds later I saw the first of the tiniest snowflakes, I said “Oh no you diN’t!”. This as I was standing there waiting for my dog to pee, admiring the little buds on the tree and anticipating them busting out into leaves, with luck, later on that day.
By the time I headed off to work 15 minutes later it was already snowing, and the weather report said “rain mixed with snow, NO accumulation”. By 2 that afternoon, already 6 inches of snow.
What’s the big deal? Hey, even in Alaska we have a normal time for Spring to arrive! And this is supposed to be it!
That said, I’m sorry Chefguy, it’s all my fault. First of all, I looked at the buds and was sure I’d see leaves later on that day, then I dared to utter the “S” word (spring) out loud. Lastly, I remembered to put my sun hat in the field truck for work.
Sigh…
Where’s this damned Global Warming they keep promising?
Yeah, and I had all the windows open day before yesterday, went out and took photos of my bulbs coming up, the buds on my lilac, the rhubarb coming along nicely. Now it’s all covered with the white stuff, and it just keeps falling, I have about two and a half feet in my yard right now. Yee-frickin-haw.
I’ll be renting a 300 when we go to Texas to visit some family in about two weeks. Looking forward to it.
Around here, well, I drive a Patfinder with BFG/ATs. My Wife is in a Grand Jeep with Nokian snow tires on it. The Chevy plow is chained up on all 4.
As we need snow/off road tires at least 6 months out of the year, we have never done the change over to summer tires. Cost/benifit and all that.
We still have the month of May to deal with. Summer is August 3rd (giver or take a week).
Wow, what an amazing view, even with the snow.
As long as I don’t have to go anywhere, I like snow. I’m not looking forward to the heat and god-awful humidity that is Baltimore in the summer. Summer here sucks.
Are you being funny or are you unwilling to go along with a reasonable request by your fellow members?
Well, six of one, half a dozen of the other. This is an adult site; don’t open it if you can’t have profanity on your screen. If there’s a rule about profanity in titles, than sure, the OP shouldn’t have done it; I don’t know about any such rule.
Thanks. I gotta make sure I don’t take it for granted.
This is a similar shot from my deck in winter, only it’s not snowing at the time.
I don’t recall getting the memo.
I get mental whiplash, looking at your snow-pictures, and then stepping out into the heat and humidity of central Florida in April. Of course, Florida is mental-whiplash time all “winter” long. Sweaters today, t-shirts tomorrow. So you guys must be positively dizzy with the change.
We ended up with 15.5" officially, with some areas getting 22". This is a record for any day in April, since records began for the area in 1915. The previous record was around 5-8".
Where I am, it was cool and moist today. The newly-growing grass is intensely-green. This is the kind of weather it needed, not the heat of a week or so ago.
It was very refreshing to go to work today.
We might get down to zero tonight though, so there’s a risk of frost. I presume that this is the remains of the cold weather from out west (we always get used weather, often from Alberta or the South).
It was in the 90’s this weekend, in El Cajon (outlying suburb of San Diego).
I don’t miss the snow, but I don’t like sitting in a pool of sweat, either.
We’re always happy to send you guys our used cold fronts.
Whoa.
Yesterday, about 65F, bright and sunny, breezy, actually feeling like spring. Today, high 50sF, getting cloudy, hasn’t rained yet but it’s supposed to. Not too bad.
Tomorrow? High 38F, 60% chance of snow.
WTF???
It’s in the 80s and beautiful here in Houston. Move south to civilization and you too can enjoy such benefits.
Yeah, where supposed to get snow Thurs/Fri. Nice today though.
No “rule”- just a reasonable request by your fellow members. Why do you need a rule to be polite?
