Saw Game Night with Jason Bateman. Had very little expectations going in but it actually was a reasonably funny comedy “thriller”. The premise is a group game night thinks they are taking part in a staged murder mystery night but then things start happening for real.
The other amazing thing is it has an actor who looks like Matt Damon but if Matt Damon had been trapped in a demon filled universe for a few years and then escaped.
It was kind of fun with some laughs and some strained credibility but worth seeing I think. Certainly on video.
This didn’t make my “see it in the theatre” list but it did make my “watch it when it’s available for free on Netflix or Amazon or to borrow from a friend” list. Glad to see it’ll be worth the time!
Thanks to MoviePass I’ve been seeing more borderline should-I-or-shouldn’t-I movies in the theater lately, which has been both rewarding (Upgrade) and disappointing (First Reformed). This was one I took a chance on and I thought it was pretty fun. I really liked the camera pans during the closing credits; that was a hoot.
