Game of "Mornington Crescent" anyone?

Arrive at Mornington Crescent in the shortest number of moves possible using the Earl of Sandwich Rules (Abridged):

  1. All stations south of the river are wild
  2. Junctions occur a two point penalty
    First Move: Elephant and Castle

You live in Birmingham and you play Mornington Crescent? I think you’d be well advised to make a showing at the Brumfest on the 26th of this month.

My move: Frimley Park. No westing.

I must enquire, as always - when talking about Earl of Sandwich rules, are we talking about Brownian variant or Queen’s variant? I mean, naturally I’d assume we’re going by Brownian Earl of Sandwich rules, but the sudden popularity of Queen’s variant along with Throckmorton exception as of late has led to the old question becoming timely again.

While the nisbet placement resulting from the Ratham maneuver will be different as depending on what variant we’re using, I still think it’s safe to open with Russell Square.

I want to put a hotel on St. James Place.

What the hell is this game?

aaaaaaaa-MEN to THAT, Brother Welby!!

In response to Francesca, I’m obligated to respond with Southerly Northron. Again, no westing.

Maybe we should check this out.

Sorry. Imaginary stations aren’t allowed except in “No Quarter” encounters. You’re binned, I claim the Bronze Keeper, and I’ll follow up with a swift cross-court to Cannon Street. Jigg’s Whip is disallowed until Suburban Bidding is opened.

Malacandra is quite right. We must stick to the rules, otherwise this game makes no sense at all.

Euston Square

The prohibition against imaginary stations except in “No Quarter” encounters is invalidated by the Brownian Earl of Sandwich issues. We really need to clarify just what rules we’re using.

Until that is resolved, I declare the binning null.

Starling Close.

C’mon, Ino, play nice. Not everyone is as confident as you. Let the beginners and intermediates have a chance.

Bethnal Green.

It doesn’t really matter what rules we play since imaginary stations were declared illegal by the World Mornington Crescent Association in '98.

So unless this is a heresy game then imaginary stations are BANNED.

I don’t mean to sound pushy about this, but i know that like me Francesca, Sir Doris and Malacandra are all fully paid up affiliates of the WMCA and we’d all stand to lose our adjudicator licences if we were found to be taking part in a heresy game.

Anyway, rant aside:

Kings Cross and since no one has declared wetheringtons i call signal failure.

Mornington Crescent.

I can’t believe you allowed that!

Damn, I’m just too late. You have a most appropriate username, glee

leaves on the track…
