Game of the States

I know where all the states are, but only got 41 out of 50 because my dragging dexterity is somewhat lacking.

They can’t fool me! Colorado and Wyoming are the same state, and they just pick the other one to mess with you.

Yep that was one of the ones that bit me.

94%, 8mi average error.
I got Nevada and Kansas right off…they are hard to put in the right place without other states around. I attribute road tripping to my geographical mastery.

EVERYONE is doing better than me! Blast!
At the risk of highjacking my own thread, I think you may be the one to ask. I heard awhile back about a series of memory tricks to remember all the State capitals. One was “Juno the capital of Alaska?” Have you heard of this?

I suck.

82%.

92%, average error 13 miles, 188 seconds.

It’s the square ones in the middle that always get me - and my score is always dependent on which ones they give me first.

46 Perfect out of 50. 92% Average Error: 12 Miles 315 seconds

The hardest part is manipulating the mouse. I almost let go of several states too early.

96%, but my cat bumped my hand and made me drop Nevada! I think the other one I missed by 20 miles was Virginia.

Secret hint: Wyoming is notably bigger. Drive through both states, and you will see that this is in fact true, and even more amazingly, theres less in Wyoming than in Colorado.

My 6th grade teacher was a retired Army Colonel…there were no tricks…just repetition and rote memory. He was REALLY GOOD at that.

If I’m not being whooshed, Colorado is larger of the two. They happen to have realtively the same longitude and latitude dimensions (4 degrees by 7 degrees), but distance between longitude is smaller for Wyoming than Colorado since Wyoming is further north than Colorado.

Colorado also has a slight bend on its western border (Montrose County) with Utah.

96%, 4 mi average error, 373 seconds.

I took my time.

Two more perfects…198 and 181 seconds.

Aha! Iron clad evidence of east cost Bias. Wyoming and Colorado are very clearly seperate states, with personalities as different as Sherri and Terri. The true insidiousness and evil of that quiz is the claim that Delaware actually exists.

Fight the delusion! There is no spoon! There is no Deleware!

94%, 6 miles,299 sec. I have done this before with a perfect score, you just can’t start with the interior states.

98% (Despite my extensive geographic education, I can’t for the life of me recall the relative positions of Kansas and Nebraska) 4 mi avg. error, 179 seconds

94% 7 miles average error 177 seconds

It didn’t help that my first three states were Oklahoma, Utah, and Iowa.

I would love a game like this for another part of the world, preferabbly at the placing countries in continents level.

94%, 11 miles error average, 196 seconds . . . I got Utah first, then Conn, sheesh, I a southern boy, that’s tough
