Has anybody seen the trailer that portrays Game of Thrones as a buddy comedy starring Tyrion and Bronn? It’s hilarious.
:p:p:p
As long as we’re posting GoT related funnies, this one comparing the characters to political figures is pretty hilarious.
I was lukewarm on it until the last line, then it became genius.
Strange. I went back in order to recall what the last line was, and the image was gone. If that’s also happening for anyone else, here’s the original source.
Ditto. THAT was when I laughed.
The auto-play stuff that comes after is pretty good, too.
I don’t think they go back and forth, just home.
So, the raven stocking service is even more important.
Yeah, if they only work one way, then someone has to schlep all them ravens back home. Must cost a mint in gas money.
Good point. In peacetime, there must be a regular system for ravens to be traded among various castles and forts, restocking the supply of those which have already flown to, say, King’s Landing or Pyke.
Re: the ravens, I’m not looking for a spoiler here, but aren’t the ravens regarded as smarter than we’re giving them credit for? They’re not necessarily just like simple homing pigeons, and there may even be some sort of magical aspect to them.
Even barring any magic, as long as they’re slightly smarter than homing pigeons, there’s no reason they can’t have two homes, instead of just one. If they know they get fed regularly and have a comfortable roost at both locations, then you remove them from the roost and food at one location, they just simply go to the other place where they know they’ll find those things. It’s not very far-fetched to believe this would work in a land of dragons and shadow-babies, etc.
Eh. Actually, I think that would be a problem. The general rule with science fiction and fantasy is that you can certainly get the audience to suspend disbelief for the fantastical elements, but people get yanked out of the story when real-world things don’t work the way they’re supposed to. Dragons are fine - but if you’ve got an otherwise normal bird, presented as a normal bird, doing things that a bird can’t normally do, you’ve got a problem.
But haven’t there been (admittedly, tiny) hints to a mystical element with the ravens? I vaguely remember Bran dreaming about a raven and talking about the one with three eyes. It may be nothing, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was foreshadowing something about the ravens that we’ll find out later.
You mean like when a single summer lasts for 15 years?
This was the general way carrier pigeons were used, transporting them en masse from their roost to whomever you wished to communicate with. As it’s been told in the show, Maesters are a bit of a group to themselves, studying in some sort of college and being loyal to their keeps rather to whomever happens to hold it. This is obviously an integral part of the system, as they’re basically the backbone of a communications network.
Is it Sunday yet!?!
I am like a silly little kid when it comes to this show. I’m already planning myself a series “re-watching” from the beginning when this season is over, because otherwise I’m going to go into withdrawals.
Sunday night rolls around and I’m hustling and bustling to get the kids in bed, the dishes done, and at 5 minutes til 9 I’m racing for my recliner to get my weekly fix.
They had better not cancel this show. It needs to run for like 20 seasons.
It’s gonna need to run for like 20 seasons if they have to wait for Martin to finish writing the series. I don’t see why they would cancel it though, it seems to be doing incredibly well in both ratings and accolades.
