Game of Thrones 3.02 "Dark Wings, Dark Words" 4/7/13 No book spoilers

I don’t really agree. There are plenty of characters who seem quite bright to me : Arya, Bran, the deceased maester, the knight who serves Daenerys, Tywin Lannister, possibly Bolton, Theon’s sister, the commander of the Night Watch, the admiral who serves Stannis, the fire priestess, Margaery’s grandmother, and I probably forgot some

His hands were shackled together.

It also points out how much of a BMF at fighting Jaime really is, considering that he fights Brienne to a standstill with his hands shackled and after being imprisoned for the better part of a year.

It wasn’t really a standstill, IMO, Brienne could have killed him or really injured him if she had wanted to.

Has it been over a year since he was captured? I have not seen any S3 episodes yet so I don’t know if they’ve explicitly stated how long he was a captive.

Yeah, and I can’t imagine they’re feeding him especially generous rations while they move from war camp to war camp, so he’s probably lost a lot of strength from that.

He did say right before they fight that he had been wearing the same boots for over a year, i assume when he is free he occasionally changes his boots.

Were they shackled or just tied? I thought they were tied and he cut them free when he cut the long rope.

His hands were definitely shacked by metal, there was just a rope tied to the shackles that Brienne was using to drag him around.

I can just picture her casually telling Margaery “Now if Renly get’s squeamish just have your brother come in and warm him up, more cake dear?” Also Joffrey’s sounding more and more like a closet case.

YouTube videos of 03x02 ahead.

She prayed that he would live and promised she would love him and raise him as her own…but broke that promise, and blames herself for all the tragedy surrounding her for not keeping that promise.

Agreed…about 45 seconds in the fight, she had the upper hand. His hands were still shackled together since he only cut the tether.

While we often see closetted gays leading the anti gay cause i think going as far as implementing the death penalty would be a bit too much even for them. Besides while he didn’t seem terribly interested in Margaery he sure popped a boner over the idea of watching her kill things.

Yeah, he’s a sadist, not gay.

I’m rewatching season two. Maester Luwin tells Bran that there are “no more dragons, giants, or people of the forest”. Is that what Jojen and Meera are? People of the forest?

I’ve read the books but have forgotten most everything.

Nope, Jojen and Meera are just regular humans of House Reed, which is one of the banner houses to Stark.

Let’s watch the book knowledge, please. I don’t think we’re supposed to know quite yet what the deal with those characters is. Edit: They declared their house loyalties, but there’s clearly something magic going on, so the audience doesn’t quite know what the deal is.

Overall great epsiode. (Lady Olenna is perfection. I think the Tyrells may be my favorite House. Every scene with Margaery makes me cheer a bit.)

One thing I didn’t love was Joffrey adding “homophobic bigot” to his long list of unpleasant character traits. Do we really need yet another blinking light over his head saying “EVIL”? What’s next, concentration camps?

I choked up a bit when Sansa let her guard down and ratted on Joffrey. Great work from Sophie Turner there.

The Brienne/Jaime fight gave me a little thrill, as a fan of Highlander. Every hour of drama should really have a few minutes of well-choreographed swordplay at the end. There can be only one!

It’s not like they’re mutually exclusive.

Children of the forest. Jojen and Meera aren’t them, nor are they dragons or giants.
