Game of Thrones 4.07 "Mockingbird" 5/18/14 [no spoilers]

Oh, got it. I thought you meant rescue Arya or Sansa from the Eyrie.

How much have we even seen the Mountain in the show? Honestly, the only time I remember him is from the joust when he cut off the horses head.

He captured Arya Gendry and Hotpie. Well his men did, he was briefly seen picking out from the prisoners to have them tortured. He gets talked about plenty though, Edmure Tully beat him at some mill or other earning him a good scolding from Robb.

There was a scene where Tywin gave him some orders at Harrenhal.

He would need money and ships to go North so visiting the bankers still makes sense. However, Stannis would never give land to the Wildings unless they declared him their king. Fighting off Wildlings could get him loyalty in the North from people that resent what happened to the Starks.

His real name is Bobby Draper.

Nice pic of the actor and actress: http://i.imgur.com/NG4Q625.jpg
Well, he’s not that big: http://awoiaf.westeros.org/images/thumb/4/4a/Komarck_Gregor_Clegane_FFG.jpg/350px-Komarck_Gregor_Clegane_FFG.jpg

So it’s a range now.

Oh excellent point.

I thought he was just doing some dry-run killin’ with some condemned criminals so he’s not rusty with one-on-one combat when he goes in for Cersei.

Only thing that doesn’t fit for me is that he’s supposed to be the Hound’s older brother and this guy is clearly not older than the Hound.

Working so closely to Joffrey ages a fellow. Ser Barristan was only 23

As good as Peter Dinklage was in his courtroom speech, for my money his performance during his conversation with Oberyn last night was even better. A lifetime worth of emotion washed over his face as he sat, silently, hearing Oberyn describe seeing him as a baby and saying he’d fight for him. Good stuff!

He left due to timing issues. Seems he got a big part in The Hobbit. I’m sure that’s better pay than 5 minutes screen time in an episode or three per season, if your lucky.

 That made me chuckle. Thank you.

20 minute documentary that prominently features the new actor playing the Mountain.

I’m not ashamed to say that tears flowed during the scene between Oberyn and Tyrion. What immense presence these two actors had. They fed of each other’s incredible talent.

Also, can Little Finger get any creepier? First time I’ve ever said “eeewwww” out loud in a kissing scene on this show, nevermind ongoing incest storylines!

Yeah, there’s no denying that this week’s performance was far more subtle–Peter Dinklage’s face spoke volumes.

Aside from working closely with Joffrey, I suspect having half your face burned off at a young age will add years to a man’s skin. I’m willing to let it slide.

They can give him a digital tophat as well. Ok, so it’s been a while since I’ve seen season one. Maybe being shirtless made him look bigger. (Or at least, made me feel smaller.)

Kinthalis, I admit I teared up a little bit too. That was an amazing scene. Most of us, I think, knew that the show was heading towards Oberyn being Tyrion’s champion. That wasn’t surprising. But the way it was handled was exceptionally well done. This is a show with a plethora of duplicitous, murderous, horrible people. Against that backdrop the tenderness of Oberyn’s speech - and the basic acknowledgement of Tyrion’s humanity and suffering - was touching.

In fact, this episode had a number of similarly intimate moments. We had Arya and the Hound, and Tyrion with Jaime and then with Bronn. It’s absolutely true that “Game of Thrones” is a violent show. It is also true that it is, at times, a very tender one.

Exactly. This was batting practice, or time on the driving range, for The Mountain.

Lots of humanity being displayed – Hound’s gentle side, Brienne with a sense of humor, Bronn and Tyrion sharing an honest, but difficult moment. Arya revealing her nihilism. Excellent episode.

They probably requested trial by combat

Declan

how does that work? why didn’t Ned Stark request for it?
