Game of Thrones 5.10 "Mother's Mercy" 6/14/15 [Show Discussion]

Oh, and I’m not a moderator, but as the OP of the thread, I still intend for the show discussion only rule to apply here, and to apply into next season too. Not everything that happens in the books and the show happen in the same order - a plot development from book 5 could easily make it into season 6. Or background knowledge from the books may not apply to the show, making explanations for a certain character motivation false or confusing. Or spoiling can happen the other way - some people are actually reading the books after the show, and off-hand discussion of scenes and plot points that are in the books but not to show would actually spoil their enjoyment of reaching those points in the books.

But perhaps most importantly, a hard rule prevents the need to argue over people’s subjective notion of what a spoiler is and what isn’t. To prevent the sort of squabbling we’ve seen come back in this thread, that the moderators had to step in for. Show discussion only is the clearest rule that prevents these threads from turning into trainwrecks when people obey it.

So where does the info in your previous post (“Syrio actually killed Trant but knew the Lannisters would be looking for him for it. So he ended up hiding the body and wearing Trant’s face, and living his life as Trant as per assassin rules. Arya actually just killed Syrio. It’ll be revealed in ep 1 of next season.”) come from? Is that just speculation? If so, it helps if you identify it as such.

It’s a joke.

And a really, really, really obvious one.

Not that obvious, apparently.

You will be suspended for a few days to cool off if you post in this thread again about this issue.

And Arya really went to town on Ser Meryn; if she’d just slit his throat & let him bleed out it could’ve been written off as one of the prostitutes he was known for beating striking back.

100% this.

and this.

And Theon could still be playing Sansa like he was played, is it really that hard to imagine that the death of whatsherface by Theon is somehow beyond Ramsey to plan? He killed the hell out of multiple people while messing with Theons head. I dont honestly think thats whats going on, but I will not be shocked if it is, It would be pretty great writing on whoevers writing this part of the show.

There is a discussion about it here now. Let’s take all talk over to that thread, just FYI.

I think Theon just reached his breaking point and, by force of long-suppressed will, disenthralled himself from Ramsay and decided, in desperation, to help Sansa… but it would be a fiendishly clever plot twist indeed if he was still doing Ramsay’s bidding. Brrrr.

Aaaaand that thread is now closed. Dammit.

I’m having trouble understanding the thought process of directing traffic to a second thread to prevent hijacking, and then closing that second thread 90 minutes later. Seems counterproductive.

Lena Headey’s body double Rebecca Van Cleave … Is beautiful!

Ugh. That didn’t work. Here’s her agent’s web site: http://www.elliottbrownagency.co.uk/portfolio.asp?entrytype=Women&ID=3149

Indeed. It seems almost like a “shut up, shut up, shut up” like move to me.

If Westeros were Western Europe… not perfectly analogous, of course, but some interesting parallels: This Map Of Westeros Shows The European Equivalents Of The Seven Kingdoms | HuffPost Entertainment

It probably helped that it was Myranda and not Ramsay.

Yes. If Theon pushed Ramsay off the battlements, we could be pretty sure it wasn’t at Ramsay’s request.

I meant it was a lot easier to stand up to Myranda than to Ramsay, specially since he was gone at the time.

It would pretty much be a repeat of Ramsay killing his own men to pretend to break Theon out just to bring him back.
