Ramsay says that the Boltons have the Karstarks, the Umbers, and a third family on their side, so it doesn’t matter much of they lose support in the north by attacking the Night’s Watch.
That clip reminded me of that old adviser to the Starks, who was, as I remember, murdered by Theon Greyjoy. (He’s the one in the clip on Bran’s left, while Rickon is on Bran’s right.)

Have we every really seen the Umbers? Or have they just been talked about. When Rickon left to go to them none of them knew what was going on with Robb.

Can someone remind me why the Umbers turned against the Starks?
Did they? Or did they just accept Bolton’s control of the North as a fait accompli and make their peace with it?
Guess we’ll see.

Yes, we’ve seen at least one Umber. He lost a couple of fingers to Robb’s wolf at the dinner table. I think it was Greatjon in season 1.

Thanks – good to know. I wonder where Brandon was?
Probably off being fostered somewhere. He was the eldest and Ned said he was off to the Eyrie soon.

Great Jon Umber was one of Robb’s biggest supporters after Greywind bit his fingers off in one of my favorite season 1 scenes.

There’s the whole army of Unsullied; plus Vaerys and Theon. And what’s unusual is that the last two have had penilectomies, which is just gratuitous mutilation, not necessary for creating eunuchs. Methinks GRRM has Issues.
I think the Unsullied are Full Monty penis-free eunuchs. They mentioned that all the Unsullied could do with a woman was basically cuddle, and many testicular eunuchs can achieve enough erection to have sex.
Varys’s penis was cut off as part of some dark ritual and Theon was torture, but the Unsullied wouldn’t make a lot of sense from the plot standpoint as the risk of them dying would be severe. OTOH, many Chinese court eunuchs were penis-free, so I suppose more survive than don’t.
Will Arya get to kill anyone else on her death list? She killed Polliver and Meryn Trent, but there are only three others left (assuming the Hound is dead): Cersei, Walder Frey and the Mountain. I wonder if any of them will last long enough for her to catch up with them.
Can someone update me on the status of the Stark dire wolves? If I recall, each of the 5 kids, plus Jon Snow, got one. Sansa’s was killed after the whole Arya/Joffrey incident and Arya let her wolf free. Did they ever reveal what became of Arya’s? Robb’s was killed along with him after the Red Wedding. Jon obviously still has his, after getting it back from Craster’s Keep. What about Rickon’s and Bran’s wolves?

I read an article somewhere that the Seven are intended to portray Catholicism, but in polytheistic (heptatheistic?) form…
The Faith of the Seven is an obvious analogue to the Mediaeval Roman Catholic Church (right down to it’s organizational structure), but it’s also much less powerful than the Church. For starters with all of Westeros (south of the Wall) being unified under the Iron Throne the High Septon is more Archbishop of Canterbury that Pope. Also 2 of the Seven Kingdoms have a completely different majority religion, and until Cersei revived the Faith Militant it couldn’t enforce it’s religious laws like the Mediaeval Church could.

…Franken-mountain (are we really not supposed to know who’s behind the visor?) has an interesting hand-to-hand combat technique: punch 'em in the face so their brains smash on the wall. That’ll work.
I’m surprised he just killed the guy; I was expecting him to rip the guys cock off on Cersei’s orders.

Arya’s Nymeria = shooed away for its own safety; presumably wandering the Riverlands
Sansa’s Lady = killed after Arya’s scrap
Robb’s Greywind = killed after Red Wedding
Rickon’s Shaggydog = last seen with Rickon and Osha
Bran’s Summer = with Bran, Hodor, and Meera north of the Wall
Jon’s Ghost = with Jon at Castle Black

Presumably Rickon’s is with him and Asha. They were last seen heading for the Wall but must have gotten sidetracked. Bran’s is with him and was seen in this week’s episode. Arya’s was not seen again after the first season but is probably still alive.
Fun Fact: The actress who plays Sansa adopted the dog that played Lady, her Dire Wolf.

Rickon was not headed for The Wall. He was headed for the Umbers. Which could be why he’s “the prize” Ramsay’s so happy about. Which makes me sad because I don’t want Tonks to die again.

Theon said he was going “home”. Perhaps he didn’t mean The Pike at all. Perhaps he has a plan to redeem himself and as let himself get recaptred and he is the ‘prize’. Rickon would be a much better prize, though.
That’s a pretty stupid plan. It’d be like ‘avenging’ your lover by killing his brother and nephew.

Bran’s wolf is with him in the tree, and Rickon’s, when last seen, was with Rickon and Osha. Arya’s wolf, Nymeria, hasn’t been mentioned since season one if I’m remembering correctly. Maybe she’ll reappear and take out Ramsey.
ETA: Oops, apologies. Thought I was on the last page.

Huh? How could going back to Winterfell and messing with Ramsay like killing your brother and nephew?
Because going back to be Ramsay’s torture-toy makes no sense at all, just like killing Doran and Trystane made no sense at all.

If Jon Snow immediately gets killed in the next episode it will seal the deal as this being the greatest, trolliest show in history.
Well, he does still have all those stab wounds.

Because going back to be Ramsay’s torture-toy makes no sense at all, just like killing Doran and Trystane made no sense at all.
Penance. He did say what he did was unforgivable, so he needs to go home. And, if you notice, none of Theon’s plans were any good.
Here’s another theory. The prize is Rickon, Theon goes back to Winterfell for redemption and somehow saves Rickon.

Maester Luwin. Maesters are attached to a particular castle rather than to a family, so Luwin was forced to serve Theon once he took over Winterfell. Luwin was stabbed by Dagmer, one of the Ironborn, after they had knocked Theon out, so that’s one murder Theon wasn’t responsible for (at least not directly).
