Any Game of Thrones watchers who have not read the books want to make predictions as to what will happen in the final episode? Or what will happen in the second or future seasons?
As a big fan of the books I’m very curious what people think will happen. Post now, and on Monday we can look back and laugh! Or congratulate!
My mid-season prediction has already gone down the tubes - that winter comes, the sea freezes, the horse folk storm across, and rape and pillage everyone (maybe there’s a truce or something to fight the oncoming horde). That’s clearly not going to happen.
I guess we still have Bran having crow/raven visions. That’s going to have to pay off. He’s clearly not going to be some wise poet king of the north without some semblance of victory to the south, so his brother is going to win…somehow. Either by trickery or chance, because he sure as hell doesn’t have the numbers.
Anya doesn’t have much going for her. Yeah yeah, they’ve built up her training and Needle and all that shit - but she’s still 4 years old (or whatever) and impulsive. They’re setting this character up for a long 3-season haul, not a one-episode shocker. I forsee nothing dramatic here.
Sansa will be stuck with Joffrey as well. She’ll become a manipulative bitch at the training of Cersei, and double-cross both her family and Joffrey over the course of the entire series. Everyone will hate her more than Joffrey.
Jon Snow will end up convincing someone to let him go south briefly to warn everyone that zombies are on their way, but his future is north of the wall. He’ll become a Big Damn Hero, but certainly not in the next episode - probably by the end of season 2.
Forces will collide, heads will roll, and the realm will be governed by the end of the season by Littlefinger, Varys and Cersei. Joffrey will be imprisoned after a faked sickness or something to get him out of the public spotlight making terrible decisions. Kahl Drogo will survive his black magic ritual somehow and be seen boarding ships right as credits roll. And Imps everywhere will rejoice in ample bosoms and ale.
What I want to happen: Dany and Drogo burn King’s Landing to the ground. What I think will happen: Winter will come and the clans spend more time fighting it than each other.
I’m really surprised by the lack of conjecture. Of course, I’ve never seen people so paranoid over spoilers as they are for Game of Thrones, many of whom consider wild guesses to be spoilers.
What I’d *like * to see, or what I expect? I’d like to see Sansa pry a sword off the throne and hand Joffrey his balls in a sack made from direwolf hide. But that might afoul her dress, so that’s improbable. How about: Robb will not take the news well, and Jaime will suffer some serious owies, but not unto death. Northern zombie invasion? Dani has a girl?
Drogo dies, Dany gives birth to a relatively healthy child, manages to maintain her position of authority among the horse people (not even going to try to spell their name).
Robb is highly competent on the battlefield, but he’s unable to overcome the entire Lannister army. There’s a tentative ceasefire and Robb becomes King of the North or whatever. Despite the peace treaty, the resultant bad blood between the two families will result in feuding and skirmishing that threatens to boil over into a full-bore civil war.
Jaime is punched a lot. At this point, I’m split between Jaime dying now or being released. I don’t think he’ll be imprisoned for very long, though.
Winter comes, and a bunch of zombies and wildlings descend from the north, fucking everybody up while they’re distracted.
I don’t think it’ll happen straight out in this episode, just because there’s a lot of ground to cover already, but I think it’s something we’ll see looming up in the background, maybe from John’s (or Jon’s) perspective, as this season draws to a close. Maybe as dressing for the next season.
Another prediction: I think we’ll see Cersei and the royal council start to rein in the new king, but he’ll be resistant to their efforts.
Well, it’s not like we’re going to publicly mock anyone who was wrong. It’s just very interesting for those of us who are such big fans of the series and know so well what’s going to happen to get to see an outsider’s perspective… wouldn’t you be interested to, I dunno, travel back in time to right before the release of Empire Strikes Back and ask people what they thought would happen in it?
Never read the books and have no idea what happens - I am just along for the ride.
I do hope they move from these dreary surroundings to more mythical lands - ala LOTR - or at least have some kind of creature(s) appear - I understand Treebeard is available if they want to hire him on the cheap. The beauty of LOTR is that you get to meet a lot of interesting characters, in wondrous lands, with special abilities.
Actually it is sort of fun NOT to know what is going to happen.
Keeps the awe alive.
So for all of you who have read the books, please keep those spoilers in spoiler boxes! (Or at least entitle your threads to say “Spoilers Included!”.
I have never read the books, although I hope to after the end of this season. Here are my predictions:
Joffrey will rule impulsively and ruthlessly for a short time, acting against the advisement of his mother and the council. He will alienate all of his allies and mentally torture Sansa with cruel stories of things that have been done to her family. I think that eventually be killed by Arya, avenging the death of her father.
Kahl Drogo will survive and lead an army to Kings Landing. Deynaris will give birth to the baby but people will fear it and think it is bewitched.
Cersei will become pregnant by Jamie but will have to abort the child or be exposed. Jamie will escape Robb’s camp–likely by bribery. He will make it back to Kings Landing in time for a great war. All of the DireWolves including the one that was killed, will be present. Bran will be able to telepathically command certain animals who will aid in the fight.
Tyrion Lannister will fall in love and then, poison his father.
King Robert’s son, the blacksmith, will fight on the side for the North and eventually marry Arya.
All of the players including the Whitewalkers will converge on Kings Landing for a battle.
It’s too bad considering how many predictions in this thread are spot-on and how many make readers giggle instead. And until a few of these predictions, I didn’t stop to consider that something that seemed obvious to me about the previous episode clearly isn’t to some viewers.
My prediction is that some kind of truce is reached between the Starks and Lannisters and some Stark or another is given some degree of autonomy in the north. I also guess that the Baratheons will fit in to that somehow. I expect one of the Lannisters will die, maybe the dad and Robb die in battle. Unfortunately, Joffery will live on, although somehow reined in by Cersi et al.
Then after everything seems to be settling down, towards the end of the episode, the Dothraki and some nasties from the north will invade leaving a monster cliff hanger for season two.
I predict we’ll get a reveal on who started this whole mess by killing John Arryn. It’s obvious that Tyrion was set up. Since with the whole dagger business the obvious finger points to Littlefinger, but since that’s too obvious it won’t be him either. I don’t think that the Lannisters are as in control of things as they and everyone else seem to think. This season will end like The Empire Strikes Back, with bad guys like Joffrey on top for the moment. The Dothraki will invade just as the Seven Kingdoms are weakening each other in bloody battle and at the same time the Wall will be breached.

Daenerys will bear a son.
Uncle Benjen will show up again, possibly as a zombie, but not necessarily.
In general, things will get far worse for the innocent – Sansa, Arya, Bran, and the littlest Stark.
Things will go badly for the crazy lady at the Aerie. I suspect her inappropriately nursing son is going to meet a misfortunate end.
Cat is going to be separated from all her children and unable to help them for the time being.
Jamie’s going to be freed one way or another.
Something good is going to happen with Tyrion. He’ll get something nice.
Something’s also going to happen with Robert’s bastards. Maybe someone’s going to start killing them off.
