Yeah, I think since she was one of the ones hired by Tyrion for Joffery, and Cersei then found out she was originally at Winterfell, she put two and two together (and came up with three :p.)
I guess that means Ros is sort of taking the place of Alayaya.
So excited for next episode…from what I understand (and the preview makes it seem so,) it’s mostly The Battle of Blackwater Bay…I’m hoping, like, 90% battle.
Then the last episode will have The House of the Undying, Arya somehow meeting back up with Jaquen to get the coin and phrase, possibly the sacking of Winterfell, though I don’t think they ever cast Ramsay this season for that may be pushed to season 3, Jon fighting Quorin to get the wildings to accept him, and it had DAMN. WELL. BETTER. end with three horn blasts at The Fist, since we had all that clunky exposition about it from Sam.
It was explained in the book, but not the show, right? I have only read the books once and it was a while ago, but wasn’t it because Tyrion would go to the whorehouse and one prostitute’s room in particular, then through a secret passage to see his woman? So it seemed like he was going to see a particular woman when it was actually another.
This is how it worked in the books but would not work as an explanation for the show since, in the show, Tyrion moved his girlfriend into the castle to be Sansa’s handmaiden and all that brothel nonsense was cut out.
In the books, didn’t Tyrion regularly go to Ayaya <sp> in the whorehouse as a ruse to divert from who he was really seeing? In the series, I can’t remember where he has Shae tucked away, but if it was also in the whorehouse then I imagine Cersei had her guards follow him, as in the books. So Cersei thinks she has him nailed, which means the ruse worked, but I’m pretty sure Tyrion’s maybe even a little MORE angry that Cercei hurt an innocent girl rather than Shael.
In last night’s episode, Tyrion’s whole “OMG YOU’RE MINE!” thing seemed…out of the blue. I know, I know, we really can’t get any internal exposition from him about his feelings over time, but honestly, even in the books it didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I don’t think any of the plot lines that occur due to their relationship would have been been any less weighty had he just, you know, LIKED her a lot, but more realistically.
There seems to be an overall push to make the females more sympathetic. I’m fine with that on Yara, but dislike the same thing being done with Cersei.
With Yara/Asha it fits with the exposition from the books about her lover, her “Nuncles” and her overall lifestyle. IOW she is “made human” in the books, just through other means. Not so Cersei, who was as close to pure evil as we get.
Right, my assumption was that Tywin has communicated to Cersei his order that “Tyrion’s whore” not be allowed at court. Cersei then took the necklace to be the proof that Tyrion had defied the order, and with this particular woman.
About Catelyn letting Jaime free, I thought it was set up reasonably well in the last episode. Clearly tempers were running very high in camp and he was on the verge of being killed, along with a possible armed fight between different groups. A dead Jaime would be of no use but there was at least a possibility that Brienne would be able to get something useful in exchange for him.
So, no Tyrion’s chain, but it looks like he’ll engineer some sort of sewage quagmire at the Mud Gate instead. It stills plays into his ingenuity and backstory as keeper of Casterly Rock drainage, but we won’t get to see him throw his weight around with the armorers.
Also, the Queen regent’s plot with the pirate ship builder is list.
So…no Weasel soup…at least not at this point. The last episode of the season is sure to be a big one, though, so there is time for something like that to happen…maybe. To me it’s not a big deal if it doesn’t, though. I can’t imagine they’d let Jaquen off and away without more interaction with Arya, though, so I do expect more of that. Somehow.
I’m a little pissed about next week’s episode, regarding the Blackwater. The season has been so dark already that it’s difficult to make out what’s going on for me, and we do NOT have a small television. The Blackwater video on Youtube looks ridiculously dark, which may save them production money but wtf. I already wish I could just go see this series in the theaters just to be able to SEE it, so next week doesn’t look promising at all.
Taomist - have you tried turning the brightness all the way up and the contrast all the way down? That’s what worked on my olde set. Now I can see just fine.
He loses his hand to the band that travels with Hoat. Can’t remember what they were called. He and Brienne run into them and get taken prisoner.
ETA: The Brave Companions, that’s what they call themselves. I can’t exactly remember if they had a specific reason. I think the Goat just enjoyed hacking off limbs in general.
Yeah, that’s the plan. After watching House last night and thinking THAT was dark…which, again, in a warehouse, at night, kinda WAS dark, I’m thinking we need to adjust some things. It’s a nice tv but, as I found out this weekend, it is about 7 years old, and it’s entirely possible that um…well, can’t really blame the tubes anymore, so I don’t know just what would go out on these flatscreen thingies.
I keep wanting to hit that little ‘reset’-type button that would um…dangit, what’s it called…used to do it for the monitors too…it kind of…de-statics it or something…WHATS THAT CALLED, ARGH!.. :smack:
Remembered!! Degaussing. Hrm, there’s enough little buttons on here maybe that still works…
If it’s an LCD, you’re probably suffering from what’s called “black crush.” Basically, colors darker than a certain threshhold will render as black instead of simply as dark. Turning up brightness then tweaking the contrast will definitely help. Some TVs also have a setting called “Black Level” or “Black Mode” that will tweak the cutoff.
“Bias lighting” can also help. In other words, don’t turn all the lights in the room off; keep a dim light on, preferably behind the screen itself if possible.
Thanks! I was recently diagnosed with cataracts, and wondered if that had something to do with it. Other things don’t seem dark though, and I’ve apparantly had these my whole life, it’s just NOW that someone noticed, so…I think Mr. Tao is just giving me crap; I’m pretty sure it’s the tv.
