Game of Thrones, The Kingsroad, 4/24/11

Well, I found this.

Ah, yes, goldcloaks. Thanks.

God, he’s pretty. He’s going to make some girl very happy someday.

Catelyn Stark is lot more haggard and ordinary looking (even before the accident) than I had her in my mind’s eye from the book. She’s got the toughness tinged with an edge of meaness/bitterness down, but i expected a more regal look to her features.

Ummmm… well… he’ll make someone happy.

I think we really need to stop posting boxed spoilers in these threads unless explicitly asked.

Whoosh!

And yes, HazelNutCoffee, I agree.

Yeah, maybe it’s the lighting or something, but fact is the matter looks a good 10 years older than the rest of her generation (Ned, Robert, Jaime, Cersei).

Definitely not the right woman for the part - but I’ve been bitching about that one forever.

-Joe

I agree about the spoilers.

But to be fair, NO ONE could have resisted that.

This Cat is not how I pictured her either, but she’s growing on me. The funny thing is, she and the actress playing Arya look a lot alike, when they shouldn’t!

It’s funny, I, too, always pictured Cat as softer, more “Southern” – in Westeros terms, I mean, not as in from Dixie. But the more I think about it, I think the actress looks more like a Northern wife, and I actually like it. (That being said, she does look too old, but then again, everyone is older on the show than in the book, so maybe it’s OK).

Yes, it’s okay just to let people be wrong when they speculate about this show.

Whoosh?

Do not read spoiler box below unless you have read all the books

It’s a fairly obvious subtext in the books that he and Renly are lovers. This is revealed in dribs and drabs and various asides throughout the books. I think this is fairly major spoiler and belongs in a box

gallows fodder: ^^^ Did you mean to spoiler that?! Or actually, not post that here at all?

Forgot one thing that my wife picked up on that no one seems to have noticed: In the picnic scene, Robert comes back from pissing on the tree and dives right into his food. I know it’s probably a modern thing to wash your hands after, and it just made me giggle, but my wife was squirming through the whole scene. Every shot of him pulling chicken or whatever apart with his fingers made her practically yelp in dismay. But even if someone like Cersei or {over-cautious spoiler for name of person we’ll meet in an episode or two}Varys might wash their hands after a pit-stop before eating, it’s perfectly in character for Robert to not give a rats ass. A nice little touch.

She was also ticked about the lack of visible breath in the opening beyond-the-wall scene last week, and some disappearing/reappearing pizza slices in last week’s Glee. Little details like that I don’t notice at all, but they drive her up the wall. It’s funny.

Why should he have spoilered that?

No, nothing spoiler there.

GF was just saying that, in the books, Arya and Jon look more like Ned while the rest of the Stark kids look more like Cat. However, GF is saying (in the TV show) that Arya looks like Cat, not Ned.

I personally don’t see it. But I’m terrible with that. Apparently my daughter looks just like my wife, which I don’t see even though the rest of the planet does.

-Joe

Oh ok, my apologies. I thought we were going to find out that Arya had a different baby-daddy, which is how it reads to someone who doesn’t know which kids are supposed to look like which parent.

ETA: Oh wait, I just realized how much sense that doesn’t make. LOL Hey man, you can’t blame me for being spoiler paranoid, around here!

Soylent Pease are PEOPLE! PEOPLE!!!

-Joe

Yes, Woosh. I’m pretty sure Captain Amazing knows all that.
