Well, I did have one complaint. Some really fucking gratuitous nudity. I like tits, but damn.
You’re just fucking with us. Not that I’m all that into tits, but still.
No, you weren’t just fucking with us!
What the in the hell is wrong with Ned? As he was talking to Cersei in the beginning I was yelling at my computer. Why?! Why are you giving that bitch the heads up? Are you stupid?
Honorable to a fault. He told her exactly why. He’s going to tell Robert, then Robert is going to have them all killed. Ned doesn’t want that.
If they’re streaming it, it will be pirated before the cable airing anyhow.
An FYI, you cannot get HBO Go unless your cable provider has signed a specific deal with HBO about the streaming service. Mine (Charter) hasn’t done the deal yet, so even though it carries HBO on its cable service and I subscribe to it, I can’t get streaming HBO.
Last episode I said:
And this episode gives us Khal Drogo’s center ring speech full of promises of the pain and wrath he’s going to bring all because they’ve tried to hurt his [del]Miss Elizabeth[/del] Daenerys. Can you smell what the Khal is cookin?
I spent a bunch of time on the phone with Charter and got the HBO streaming service!
Another great episode – it just seems to be getting better and better.
This is the first episode IMO where Ned goes from being an honorable here to something more like a Dudley DoRight clown. How many hints does the guy need? He’s trying to preserve honor in a kingdom that his no honor. A what was the deal about emptying the room while Robert dictated his terms of succession? They were both complete idiots for that – EVERYONE should have been witness so Cersei couldn’t pull any shenanigans later.
And Ned should have walked up to her and run her through when she tore up Robert’s will, but no, he thought he had that weasel whoremaster on his side. Remember Ned, the guy whose plans you just tossed aside as unworthy just minutes ago?
And now it looks like the whoremaster is going to be the king maker. There is some delicious irony there.
The last episode and this one have made clear just how corrupt and rotten their entire system is. Now I’m rooting for the Dothraki to swoop in and slaughter them all.
Boyo Jim, that was awesome.
The will that Robert dictated specifically left the kingdom to Joffrey, while Ned wrote down to his “rightful heir.” So if the will is upheld, Joffrey could be denied the kingdom. Had others been in the room, they would have noticed the discrepancy between what was said and what was written.
Yes, you’re right, which also makes Ned somewhat of a schemer. But I’m still mystified as to why this was done in secret.
The more I think on it, the angrier I become. Had I been reading this in a book, i’da thrown it into a fire or something. Which would have been expensive as I would have had to purchase it again.
I’m with Boyo, burn it to the ground and start over again!
This has nothing to do with honor and all to do with being a total retard. Once Ned does the noble yet stupid thing and gives the brotherfucker the heads up, he goes from stupid and jumps directly into brain dead by not telling the king. He deserves to be arrested for being a dumbass.
Whoa! I can’t recall the last time TV show had me so invested. Good stuff!
Thanks!
GAH!!! So dumb!
“Lawful Stupid”, as we gamer geeks call it…
Excellent, and there were a couple from earlier on that I hadn’t connected the dots about. Especially killing the pet – he should have at the least made Robert issue a direct order for it, but I figured he did it because he knew Robert well enough to understand it had to be done. But i agree with the linked writer – Robert would have let it slide.
And that’s why evil will always triumph over good…because good is dumb.
It’s too bad that good that dumb is pretty much indistinguishable from bad – after they bury the bodies, that is.
Me too, and Ros is absolutely gorgeous. But man, a whole scene of ‘whore training’ just seemed gratuitous.
I figured it was more his rehearsing his “The lamentations of their women” line from the upcoming Conan movie.
Except that Robert was mortally wounded and lying in his dead bed before Ned got to tell him about it. And then he’s too compassionate to tell him about it when he’s laying there. Oops.

That’s what makes it even stupider. You’ve made your threat to the queen and she has shown no inlination to leave. The King is dying, you are alone with him where you can speak freely. There is every chance the king is gonna die any minute now. What do you do?
If you’re Eddard you do the dumbest thing possible. Hey, Ned is supposed to be an honorable man. He made the queen a promise-- if you don’t leave, I’ma tell-- and he chose stupid over keeping his word.
