I consumed a large amount of garlic in the ceasar salad I had for lunch today. Anyone have any quick cures for garlic breath, besides just constantly using mints and/or waiting for it to go away?
My husband once had the most powerful garlic breath I could even imagine. I have no idea what was going on with that. It had superpowers!! I made him take activated charcoal tablets. It may have helped some. YMMV and all that.
I’ve heard that chewing on a sprig of fresh parsley helps. Maybe the one they used as a garnish for someone else’s lunch?
I find that eating an apple can help. The combination of apple and ginger is especially good. Some of those new toothcleaning chewing gums also seem to be pretty effective. However, nothing is going to save you from the ultimate results, when it all finally gets processed.
I know the feeling. There’s a restaurant around here that uses so much garlic in their Caesar (and everything else), you can smell it from several blocks away.
The best plan is to make sure that everyone who will be within smelling distance also has garlic for lunch. Camoflauge!
I asked my mother to buy me parsley at the store. She bought me a LOT. Apparently, this breath situation is pretty bad, from her point of view.
I’m a big fan of Altoids gum. Two pieces immediately after eating anything, and I’m in danger of the peppermint smell being what knocks people out. I’m not a big fan of mints, but I love gum, and can always chew a couple pieces on my way to a meeting and then spit it out right before I get there (if it’s the kind of meeting where gum-chewing would be frowned upon). I find the gum to be more effective than mints or any of those “dissolving strip” thingies.
