Gas Price Update.

Lansing MI area. I topped off on Monday at 2.68. Was up to 2.99 yesterday and 3.20 today. But I tell myself there’s a whole lot of people on the Gulf Coast that would love to trade problems with me.

Driving home tonight in Youngstown, OH, the one station I passed was at $2.99/gallon for regular.

Well said.

I’ll take my troubles and like 'em.

Here in central Oregon, we saw prices jump ten cents, up to $2.89, in about four hours. That was this morning- I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if it went up again this afternoon.

I’m so glad I moved here- I do so much less driving than I did in Austin. I have to fill up my truck once every three-to-four weeks… as opposed to every week like back in Texas. I’m riding my bike to and from work almost every day… but, come winter, that’s not going to be possible. For the first time in my life, I dread winter.

Yes, I know our Dopers in other countries have been paying prices these prices (or higher) for some time now. However, most cities here have pretty damned poor public transportation. Austin’s bus routes sucked- a bus ride across town would take two hours, while the equivalent trip in a car would take about 15 minutes or so. The town I live in now has zero, zip, nada public transportation. :smack:

Here where I am in Central PA, went to the store passed a gas station gas was 2.69.9 came back from the store figured better fill up as I knew prices where going to rise, just not this quick 2.99.9 is what it was when I went back not 30 minutes later. :smack:

Good luck with that. I wouldn’t count on LexTran not passing a hat to fill the bus up tomorrow.

If I could realistically do it, I’d get the student bus pass and ride in, but the only bus that comes by here and goes toward campus comes by once an hour and meanders across most of town before it gets close to UK.

And I live too far out to bike in.

Hey, I drive a pickup truck and cringed when I read that CNN Finance Guys are predicting $4 a gallon soon.

It cost me $50 to fill 'er up now. I shudder at $100.

Tripler
But by God, I’ll never give up my truck!

I saw everything from $2.59 to $2.97 for regular. That was in Ocean & Monmouth counties. I filled up yesterday at $2.57 and I saw one station yesterday that was still $2.51. Won’t see that again for awhile or maybe forever.

$3.49 here today in Northern Indiana.

Price gouging extraordinaire.

Oil company profits are up 30-50% over last year.

Grrrrrrrrr.

Sheesh, I was paying $1.06 CDN/liter when I was in Nova Scotia, at the beginning of what now seems like an unnaturally long month.

Am taking Dad to airport (he’s going to Houston) and going to Manhattan (and parking the car and taking the subway to gym); will report on gas prices in the Big Apple tomorrow afternoon.

I filled up yesterday at $2.679. I look TwinCitiesGasPrices for places near me that are decently priced.
You can see that in some places it’s up to $3.19/gal. Newsheads are predicting at least $3.50/gal by tomorrow night.

It’s $3.19 around the Lafayette area, and rising.

It’s $3.09 in the Covington area.

I’m sure it won’t stay there for long. It’s probably already risen since I checked this afternoon.

Wow, never thought I’d see the day when Hawaii had cheap gas comparatively speaking.

2.85/2.95/3.05

CostCo also sells gas that cheaper then normal, maybe by 15¢. Just a guess though as I’ve never been to their station.

I got around to filling up today after work for 2.71/ gallon. It was 2.63/ gallon this morning.

I flinch a little thinking about $4/gallon gas - It would cost me 55 bucks to fill up my Civic!

Wednesday morning it had jumped from 2.65 to 2.75

Wednesday night it was up to 2.95

This is fucking ridiculous.

So when do we start drilling Alaska?

In Morgantown, I too missed filling up yesterday at about $2.54…today at about 1 PM, I flinched at gas that cost $2.89…well, at about 5:30 tonight, it was $3.09…I saw $2.92 on the way home at about 8.

55 cents in the span of 24 hours…

Well heck. I guess I should feel fortunate.
I filled up late this morning for around $2.50 a gallon.
I thought that was awful.
I have been considering a new profession. Stealing gas
I didn’t think of checking the price tonight.

$3.09 here for premium (oh the bane of hubby’s pick in European cars). Fortunately I filled up the other day when it was around $2.50.

I also have been looking into public transportation, and also hubby and I have a personal challenge going to see how long we can go between filling up. So far 10 days is the record.

Tuesday morning, I was seeing $2.59/gal on my morning commute. By lunchtime, I was seeing stations at $3.09, but found one station still at $2.65, so I topped off my tank (only 4 gallons), knowing things would be worse by when I got out of work. By the time I was out of work, everwhere was $3.09 and up (reports of $3.29 in the area).

That’s $0.50 increase in one day, and I have a 52 mi commute daily.

Looks like I’ll be tightening my belt again…

More geezer whining: I can remember when it was .75 cents when I started driving, back in the dark ages, obviously. When a group of us would go out at night, we’d all chip in a buck to whomever was driving that night and we’d cruise around all night.

My husband just bought the first season of Adam-12 on DVD and in the background of one shot you can see a gas station - .28 cents a gallon. He backed up and paused on it in amazement.
