GEEK ME: The Almighty Comic Book Quote Game

Squink, squank, squonk, ka-flonk

Mish, mash, mush, ka-flush

Correct!

I believe “Yumpin’ Yiminy” was frequently ejaculated by Mr. Swenson, the Riverdale High School custodian.

Ooooh, nice try Bryan. I’m pretty sure just about only Ike will remember this Comic Book Corpse.

The Blackhawks

This series was about a team of guys in jet fighters who went around breaking up escaped Nazi groups, Communist cells, crime syndicates and international arms smugglers. Olaf the Swede would frequently utter “yumpin’ yimminey.” According to the linked web page, the series was a groundbreaking comic despite some earlier bigoted content (scroll down to view portrait of Chinese sidekick “Chop Chop”). Some excerpts:

“The Blackhawks are comic book heroes. Their career has spanned more than fifty years, making them some of the longest lived characters in the comic book universe. One of the first teams in comics, they laid the ground work for later, better known teams, like the X-Men. The Blackhawks began their career in World War II fighting the Axis powers. After the war they found new foes, first in the Communist threat and later in countless super-powered criminals.”

IIRC, “Yumping Yimminey” was also said by the walrus in Chilly Willy cartoons (tho I dunno if there was ever a comic book)

Brian

[paraphrased] “Hey, do you smell alcohol on these guys? What kind of super-people come to a fight reeking of booze?”

“The dangerous kind.”

Paraphrased or not, I got this one. The Avengers Knock-offs from wildstorm’s “The Authority

Point!

Okay, I’m pretty sure I got that one right so:

“The Beagle Boys! The TERRIBLE Beagle Boys!”

Scrooge McDuck. And I’ll go with Carl Barks as the writer/artist for the extra points.
